What is needed for C-sect?

What do I need to prepare if I am having c-sect? Is there any specific things I need to buy/prepare? Or pack in my hospital bag?

prenatal check-ups

hi there! just wanted to check what other mummies experience during their prenatal check-ups as im a little concerned if i am being overlooked by the doctor that im seeing. some background information: 34w5d first time mum gg the subsidised route at nuh but only doing scans there, any follow-up appointments are done at jurong medical centre (jmc) did a blood test that says im at risk for pre-eclampsia so i have been monitoring my blood pressure daily and taking aspirin every night too. during my last growth scan, they mentioned that my baby is small and at 32w1d, his estimated weight was at 1600g only. just went for my appointment at jmc today and i thought i would be able to see baby and get an estimate of his weight so i know that im eating right to help him grow but, doctor refused to check his weight. all he did was scan to get a visual of baby's heart beating, played the audio for 3 seconds then said "okay, good". couldnt even get a proper view of my baby😭 and when i asked if we could check baby's estimated weight, he said "ill check during the our last visit, im not going to check the weight everytime" 😒 i waited over half an hour for an appointment that lasted less than 5minutes with my queries left unanswered 🤷 and the clinic was not busy as there was only 1 mummy after me. any similar experiences? and i would appreciate any advice for me. thank you! sorry to hear that. I suggest you find a better gynae who is more thorough and reassuring.. I find his replies rather dismissing and unprofessional.

Nuh gynae route

Hi, can i check if i choose my own gynae during my last trimester at Nuh , i would technically be under private patient. Is B1 ward applicable for me? And how are the charges like and are there any govt subsidy or medisave deductions from The cost?

I'd recommend calling NUH's maternity desk directly to clarify this, because the ward classification and subsidy eligibility can be a bit tricky depending on how your gynae is registered with them. From what I understand, choosing your own gynae in the last trimester might put you in a different category, but whether you're still eligible for B1 subsidies or if Medisave can be used depends on your gynae's status (whether they're a private practitioner using NUH facilities or part of the public team). Better to get the exact breakdown of charges upfront so there's no surprise at the end.

From what I understand, if you're choosing your own doctor outside the hospital's team, you might be classified differently for ward eligibility and subsidies, but honestly the best way to know for sure is to ask them directly about B1 ward availability with your own gynae and what the out-of-pocket costs would be after Medisave deduction.

hi there! was wondering if any mummies have done their 4d scan at NUH? do they offer it? because for my sister who delivered at SGH, they had their 4d scan at around 32 weeks of pregnancy. im currently 32w1d and just had my normal growth scan done but nth was mentioned about 4d scan.

I haven't done mine at NUH specifically, but from what my mum friends have shared, the 4D scan availability really depends on which hospital and which package you're on lah. Since you're already 32 weeks, I'd just call their Obstetrics counter directly to ask if they offer it and whether you can still book one now, because some places only do it within a certain window. Your sister's experience at SGH doesn't necessarily mean NUH offers the same service or timing, so best to check with your own hospital directly rather than assume.

Hi mummies, can any mummies share your bill for PEH? Thank you!

I haven't given birth at PEH myself, but a few of my mum friends have delivered there and they said the bills came up around 8k to 12k depending on whether it was a normal delivery or c-section, plus any extra charges for epidural or longer stay. Best to call their billing department directly though because costs can vary quite a bit, and they might be able to give you a more accurate quote based on your package and what you're expecting.

Any recommendation for wearable breast pump and post partum binder

3 year ago I bought baby express be nude pump but heard that they have closed down. Actually I only need to buy new pump parts however when I want to buy from shopee is out of stocks Any mummies help to recommend good post partum binder for natural birth and c-sect? Thanks in advance

if you ask me, jevon baby is good. as it pumps directly on bottle or packet.

Anyone can share their experience of delivery at nuh?

A few of us in my mum group have delivered at NUH and the general feel is that it's a really supportive environment, the nurses are caring, the doctors are encouraging, and the delivery suites are quite spacious which makes a big difference when you're in labour. One thing to know is that NUH tends to be very pro-natural delivery, which is great if that's your preference, though someone in my mum group mentioned her labour stretched to three days after induction before ending in an emergency C-section, so just be mentally prepared that things don't always go to plan. On the positive side, one of my mum friends had a smooth unmedicated birth there and said the team was really steady and reassuring throughout. Overall most mums I know came away with good things to say, so I think you're in safe hands!

Kkh enquiry. #sendhelp

Hello mummies, first time mum to be here. To those who have give birth at kkh before, upon going there, are we allowed to bring personal bag & small cabin luggage during admission & inside the delivery suite? Do the delivery suite in kkh have space to store both of my bag? Or we need to pass to our spouse so they can help to bring to ward?

Don't worry don't worry, first time mummy very normal to have all these questions! Yes you can bring your bags to the delivery suite, I brought one hospital bag and one small luggage also when I delivered at KKH, got some space to store but not very big lah so better don't overpack. Usually your spouse or support person can keep the bigger luggage with them and just pass you things as and when you need, then once you move to the ward after delivery got more space already so can have everything with you!

I am entering into 3rd trimester, what are the important food to eat?

to be very honest , i continue to eat normally as usual whatever good for pregnancy just eat it until im 35-36 weeks my husband start to give me " dates" to eat so to soften our cervix and shorten the labour process which it works and i kept doing squats while holding the railings at 36 weeks onwards.
