Diarrhoea Cramps

Hello mommies. I'm in my 14 weeks 6 days second pregnancy and been having diarrhoea cramps every now and then. Stool has been soft but not watery. Should i be worried? #help_mom

Soft stools and mild cramps in the second trimester are pretty common actually, hormones can really mess with your digestion during pregnancy. That said, since you're pregnant it's always better to check in with your gynae or PD just to rule out anything and get their reassurance, especially if it continues or gets worse. Keep yourself hydrated in the meantime and jot down when it happens so you can tell the doctor.

Wait for BTO or go for resale?

Hello mommies. Just wanting to rant. I have an upcoming baby due in January, and a 3 year old girl currently. My husband is now a stable well earned salary worker. He has been in the current industry for two years. Yet he says that he still needs time to save up for the family. He also mentioned that he would still prefer to go for bto, after umpteen times getting rejected. We have been to house viewing cos initially we thought bto and sbf were out from the picture already. Now, without my consent or approval, he said that he would rather wait for bto again. He will try over and over if failed again and again. At the meantime, he wants us to stay with him in a rented apartment with a not so good environment. Mommies.. i'm sure you want your children to grow up in a proper environment. Me and my daughter are currently residing at my parents hdb 5room flat. My husband would spend his week (Mon to Thurs) at my parents home, while the weekend, he returns to his rented apartment. I just don't know how to get him to get a permanent house asap, since resale flat is easier to get now, i supposed. At the same time, he kept mentioning that he doesn't have much savings. So all these while when he told me that he had saved one grand per month, shouldn't that be enough since he has worked in the current job for more than two years? #help_mom #rants

I can hear how stressful this is, especially with another baby on the way. The thing is, BTO and resale are quite different paths, BTO takes years even after approval, while resale you can move into much faster, which matters when you have two young kids and a third coming. Two grand a month saved over two years should be a decent foundation, so it might be worth sitting down with your husband to actually map out the numbers together: what's needed for resale down payment versus what he thinks BTO needs, because sometimes the gap isn't as big as it feels. The environment matters for your family's wellbeing, but so does him feeling heard about his preference, so maybe the conversation shifts from "we need to buy now" to "let's look at realistic timelines for both options", sometimes that helps partners move forward instead of staying stuck in either-or thinking.

Can anyone recommend a good gynaecologist at Mount Elizabeth? im planning to get a second opinion about some concerns ive been having, and I think it's time for me to change my gynae. id really appreciate any recommendations or if you could share your experience with a doctor you trust. thank you in advance! #help_mom

I recommend Pamela Tan from GynaeCare at Thomson medical. She delivered my 2 sons. I was with another gynae previously , found that the other gynae was always rushing when she speaks to me and seems to be more pro csect (didn’t want a situation where I have to deliver my baby due to emergency csect) When I found Dr Pam, just hearing her voice and how she answers my questions makes me feel at ease.. and what I like about her is that she’s super pro natural.. so I won’t have to worry about additional costs going into surgery because I know she will do her v best at delivering the baby naturally (and not say things like “baby too big need to csect” - cos for this if baby is too big towards end of term, we will meet weekly, so if it’s too big she will suggest induce.) Or if baby is in bridge position, her way of handling is to rotate the baby using some methods (you can ask her), basically if she knows you want to give birth naturally she will try her v best to do it. Unlike many doctors now who just opt for emergency csect.

Full private (mount A) vs public private (KKH)

I have been seeing my gynae for about 3 years now, and been through cyst removal ops last year. Gynae is very experienced and swift, assuring which comforted me and my husband alot, so we trust him. However, with the pregnancy now, he is too expensive, hence, am considering kkh private. Anyone can share the pros and cons, along with the costs incurred? Thank you!#help_mom #firsttimemom

I totally understand wanting to stay with someone you trust, especially after going through surgery with them. The thing is, KKH private is quite a bit cheaper than a full private gynae, and their doctors are really experienced too since they handle so many deliveries, but you do lose that continuity of care and the same doctor won't necessarily be there on the day you deliver. My friend switched from her private gynae to KKH private midway through and she said the trade-off was worth it cost-wise, though she did miss seeing the same person each time. I'd suggest calling KKH private to get their exact fees and asking your current gynae if he can refer you or if there's a way to stay with him for key appointments while doing routine scans at KKH, since some people do a hybrid approach. What matters most to you between cost, continuity, and that peace of mind factor?

need help has anyone experience sciatica after giving birth?

Hi mummies! 🤍 Ever since I gave birth, I've been having this tingling, pins and needles kind of pain in my lower back that sometimes seems to run down from my back. I'm wondering if it could be sciatica, but I'm really not sure. I kept thinking it would go away on its own while taking care of my little one, but it's still there and I'm starting to get worried. Hi! I'm so sorry you're going through this, especially with a newborn to look after. 🤍 I can only imagine how exhausting that must be. My sister had sciatica a while back (not during pregnancy), and she saw Dr Colum Nolan, her spine doctor in Singapore. He really helped her, and she's doing much better now. It might be worth getting it checked by a spine specialist, just to make sure it's nothing more serious. They can advise you on what's safe and suitable, whether it's medication, physiotherapy, or another treatment. I really hope you get some relief soon so you can enjoy this precious time with your little one. Take care! 💕
