Pregnancy piles

Advice pls. I developed painful external piles at 6 weeks. Is there any treatment or I need to endure till post partum?

Oh no! I know piles can really give you a hard time, and I can’t imagine dealing with them while pregnant too. 😭 When I had piles, I went to Dr Dennis Koh at Mount Elizabeth and had rubber band ligation because I was really struggling with it back then. Thankfully, the treatment helped and the piles are gone now. Really thankful to Dr Koh for helping me through it. Hope this helps! ❤️

Baby not pooping

Is it normal for a one week Old baby to not poop, but with many wet diapers?

At one week old, if your baby's having plenty of wet diapers that's a good sign he's getting enough milk, but it's worth checking with your PD or the hospital ward you delivered at just to be sure everything's on track. Sometimes newborns can have a slower start with pooping, especially if breastfeeding is still getting established, but your doctor will want to rule out anything else and can give you proper peace of mind. How's the feeding going otherwise - is baby latching well and seeming content?

Boy baby names in Tamil

My boy is named Aditya and we're really happy with it, but honestly there are so many beautiful Tamil names to choose from lah. Have you thought about what kind of meaning matters to you - like nature, strength, god names? That usually helps narrow it down because Tamil names are so rich with meaning, and once you know what resonates with you and your husband, the choice becomes easier.

39w2d @ 2-3cm dilated but not effaced yet - HELP!

Hello guys! Please help a mommy out please, what can i do to naturally give birth soon and how can i have a smoother delivery? Thank youuu

Hi mama, I understand you're eager to meet baby, but this one really needs your doctor's input rather than trying things on your own at this stage. Please check in with your OB at your next appointment or call them now if you're worried, because they know your full picture and can advise what's safe for you specifically. Wishing you a smooth delivery soon.

Rashes in 3rd trimester

Hello. Im 36 weeks pregnant.. and I’m having quite a bad rash. Not sure if it’s hives or PUPPP. Having these white little bumps all over. Is it okay to use calamine lotion?

Rashes in the third trimester are quite common but honestly it's best to check with your gynae or PD to confirm what it is, since PUPPP and hives do need different treatments and you want to make sure it's safe for bubs. Calamine can usually be used but some doctors prefer other options in pregnancy, so definitely ask before applying anything. How much longer till your due date, hope it settles down soon for you.

When is the earliest your gynea gave you hospital leave to rest before giving birth?

Any idea when is the earliest you doctor can give you HL before giving birth? I heard they can only give from week 33 onwards? Is there such a rule?

It depends on your condition and gynae. Not sure if your gynae is strict. Some gynaes will only issue from week 35 onwards or even later. Week 33 might be too early to issue hospitalisation leave.

Headaches in second trimester

Hi hi! Has anyone experienced very bad headaches second trimester? I’m currently 17 weeks and I’m having headaches almost everyday even if I drink lots of water and eat a lot too

Headaches in the second trimester are pretty common, but daily ones sound like they're really affecting you. Mine got bad around that time too and it turned out to be a mix of hormones, posture from the weight gain, and sometimes dehydration even when I thought I was drinking enough. Definitely worth bringing it up with your PD or gynae just to rule out anything like blood pressure changes, since that's something they'll want to monitor anyway during pregnancy. In the meantime, have you tried rest, a cool compress, or checking if you're getting enough sleep? Hope it eases up for you soon.

Private gynae Dr Vanaja

Hi, may i know if anyone have any experiences from Dr Vanaja in NUH? How was your labour process with her and did she do an episiotomy on you? Because from the way she explain, she strongly encourage me to lean on episiotomy and the disadvantages if i dont opt for it. anyone can share their experiences with her?

I don't have direct experience with Dr Vanaja personally, but I think it's really worth having a frank conversation with her about your concerns, because some gynae do have a stronger preference for episiotomy and it helps to understand her specific reasoning for your case. A friend of mine also felt a bit pressured by her gynae on this topic and she found that asking directly "what are the risks for me specifically if we try to avoid it" helped her feel more in control of the decision. If you're still unsure after talking to her, getting a second opinion from another gynae before your due date is always an option lah, it's your birth and you should feel comfortable with the plan.

Tightening , nausea and barely can walk

Hi mummies, is it normal to feel tummy tightening every 10 minutes at 31 weeks? I'm not sure if it's Braxton Hicks. My tummy gets hard and then relaxes, and it's been happening quite regularly. Did anyone experience this around 31 weeks? Should I monitor it at home or get checked? Thanks in advance 🙏🏻

This one better not wait, please go see a doctor or A&E now, especially with the nausea and difficulty walking together with the tightening. At 31 weeks, regular tummy hardening could be Braxton Hicks, but when it comes with other symptoms like yours, it needs checking out properly to make sure everything is okay. Don't monitor at home for this one lah.
