Tightening , nausea and barely can walk
Hi mummies, is it normal to feel tummy tightening every 10 minutes at 31 weeks? I'm not sure if it's Braxton Hicks. My tummy gets hard and then relaxes, and it's been happening quite regularly. Did anyone experience this around 31 weeks? Should I monitor it at home or get checked? Thanks in advance 🙏🏻

At 31 weeks, Braxton Hicks can definitely happen, but they're usually irregular and often settle with rest, changing positions, or drinking water. If your tummy is tightening every 10 minutes, especially if it's happening regularly, it's worth getting checked rather than just monitoring at home. You also mentioned nausea and barely being able to walk. Those symptoms, together with frequent tightenings, could be a sign that you need an assessment to rule out preterm labour or other pregnancy complications. It's always better to be checked and be told everything is okay than to wait too long. In the meantime, try to rest, stay hydrated, and pay attention to baby's movements. If the tightenings become more painful, your waters break, you have bleeding, or you notice reduced foetal movements, head to the hospital or contact your maternity unit straight away. Hope everything turns out to be just a false alarm, mama ❤️
