Advice needed! Can allergies be prevented?

Need some advice. My first kid has eczema and several allergies. Recently found out that I am expecting. Kinda panicking. What’s the chances of my 2nd kid having similar allergies/eczema? Anything I can do to prevent or lower the risks of allergies for my 2nd kid? #advicepls

Does you or husband has history of eczema/allergy? It can be hereditary. If no, I would encourage you to eat a variety during pregnancy.

working mummies-to-be: when to stop?

Hi! I'm a full time working mom-to-be and I love my work. I'm into my 2nd trimester and I have colleagues who stopped working the moment they found out they were pregnant, and other colleagues who continued working till the day they delivered. When would be a good time to stop working in preparation for delivery? And did you use MC or HL or no pay leave?

Maternity leave & when to start taking leave

Hi im a FTM, working full time and EDD mid sept 2023. I only know im entitled for 16 weeks maternity leave but im not sure how it works. Does it only start after ive given birth or i can start a week before EDD? And how early do you start taking leave before EDD? Can we request for Hospital leave from KKH, for 1-2 weeks before our EDD ? Or some mummies dont take leave before EDD and only when you start having labour signs ? Sorry for the multiple questions as im still confused #firsttimemom #firstbaby

i took at least a week b4 EDD simply coz i did not 1 2 risk giving birth while at work... then the next 2 mths straight & the next 2 mths off and on until the full year is up

Need to drink more water

Hi mummies. I notice i drink v little plain water a day (less than 500ml). I know that we need to hydrate regularly but drinking plain water at times make me wanna puke! And also i have always been drinking unhealthy sweet things like cold/ice blended, sugary drinks and even bbt almost everyday. Any advice?

I know what you mean! Sometimes I feel like water makes me queasy too.. I add some lemon juice and it’s better

How many post natal massage sessions is recommended? And is herbal compress necessary?

Either 8/11 sessions so I’m not sure how many is needed! And top up for herbal compress or don’t need to? #firsttimemom

Nauseous at week 15

Hi mummies out there 😃 would like to check, anyone still experiencing nauseous at week 15? Mine was bad and puked a lot in first trimester and got better at week 12... but recently it came back again though my appetite is relatively better now. Any remedy?

some people experience nausea until give birth. try ginger candies or ginger tea

Feeling like shit

Just wanted to rant a little and hopefully get some strength from mummies who have been through it or are going through it… today is a not-feeling-so-good day. Feeling tired the entire day, and also feeling miserable not being able to eat what I want and do what I want now that I’m pregnant. I’m happy we’re having this baby, I really am, but today, I just feel so helpless and sad and miserable. I feel so guilty even thinking like this. Maybe it’s just the hormones talking… :(

Totally feel you! When i was with my first child, i felt like s*** everyday until mid 2nd trimester where i felt a lot more positive. Come 3rd trimester, i felt like s*** all over again. But it’s almost there so you just have to hang on. Keep looking at the baby tracker really helps to countdown to the day! Now i’m on my 2nd pregnancy, the feeling like s*** starts all over again 🥹 hang tight and let’s hope the time flies as fast as it could!

Tingling sensation

Hi mummies, I have this tingling sensation especially at night or when I do yoga stretching. Anyone else experience the same? It is normally on upper thigh area.

Oh yes, I totally understand how unsettling that tingling feeling can be, I had the exact same thing on my upper thigh during my second trimester and was quite worried about it! My gynae explained that it's actually quite common and usually caused by nerve compression, where the growing uterus or even just your posture puts pressure on the nerves running through that area, leading to that numbness or tingling or even a slight burning feeling. Someone in my mum group mentioned that the sensation tends to flare up more at night or during stretches because certain positions can increase that nerve pressure, which is probably why your yoga sessions are triggering it. The good news is it often eases up once your body adjusts or after delivery, but do pay attention if it gets more intense or spreads, as that would be worth flagging sooner rather than later. Hope you find some relief soon, you're definitely not alone in this, and it's really good that you're paying attention to your body. That said, since everyone's situation is a little different, it's always worth having a quick chat with your gynae or a doctor just to rule out anything else and get advice tailored to you. Take care of yourself, mummy!

Bloated and acid reflux

I just reach my 32 weeks and 3days,but i wonder my digestion is going to so slow.Every morning after my breakfast feeling like want to vomit.After my lunch u feel so bloated like something choke on my throat.Anyone experiencing like this coz its very uncomfortable🥲 What should i need to do should so i feel better #firsttimemom #advicepls #firstbaby thanks and advance🙏

It’s acid reflux. Take Gaviscon and don’t lie down immediately after eating. You’ll get through it.
