Is this heat patches

Started to noticed red patches on my bby neck. And seems quite bad. Applied aquaphor and does not work. Still red.

Oh no, poor little one, the neck area especially gets so sweaty with all the skin folds, so heat rash there is super common here in Singapore! A few of us tried dabbing a cool damp cloth gently on the patches first to bring the redness down before applying anything, and that seemed to help more than just putting cream straight away. Someone in my mum group mentioned that Calamine lotion worked really well for the red patchy kind specifically, made it less itchy for the baby compared to thicker creams like Aquaphor which can actually trap more heat. Do also swap to loose cotton clothing and keep the neck area as dry and aired out as possible, since the humidity here really makes it linger if the skin stays damp. That said, if the rash is spreading quickly, your baby seems really uncomfortable, or you notice any fever, it's definitely worth getting your PD or a GP to take a proper look just to rule out anything else!

Anyone mummies got recommendation for infant care at Yishun area? What are the things to look out for when registering for my LO?

Hey mama, welcome to the Yishun parent club! A few of us have looked around this area and the names that kept coming up are Greenland Childcare (also known as Harmoni) at Blk 676 Yishun Ring Road, Small Wonder, PCF Sparkletots, and Eager Beavers, so those are worth checking out first. When registering, do look at the teacher-to-infant ratio, how they handle feeding and sleep schedules, and whether the centre gives you daily updates on your little one. One of my mum friends always says to drop by unannounced after the first visit just to see how the teachers interact with the babies when they're not expecting you. Waitlists can be pretty long in Yishun so once you shortlist one or two, register early just to be safe!

Circumcision

Anyone requested for cicumcision for newborn boys at Thomson Medical after delivery? How did it go? How are the charges like? Wondering if I should do it at the hospital or do it elsewhere at other clinics.

A few of us in my mum circle have had our boys done at Thomson Medical, and the general feel is that it's a smooth, professional experience since they have a paediatric surgeon specialising in circumcision right there. Charges for infant circumcision can range quite a bit, somewhere around $600 to $1,250 or more depending on the method and doctor, so it's worth calling Thomson directly to get a proper quote before you decide. Someone in my mum group mentioned that doing it at the hospital right after delivery is convenient because everything is already in place, though a handful of mums felt other clinics were more competitively priced if cost is a priority for you. All in all, most of us felt the peace of mind of having it done by a specialist in a proper facility was worth it, but do compare a couple of options first!

Can any mummies share with me what's the Different between tula and ergo breeze? What would ypu guys recommend?

Both are really popular choices and a few of us mums have tried both, so hopefully this helps! The Ergobaby Omni Breeze tends to win on structure, it has built-in lumbar support which makes a real difference on longer outings, and it's very supportive for baby's hips too, though some mums do find it a bit bulky to lug around. The Tula Explore is also lovely and feels a bit more streamlined, but my neighbour who used it for months said the Ergo Omni Breeze just held up better day-to-day with less fussing around. For Singapore's heat, both have mesh versions that breathe decently, but the Ergo Breeze does run on the chunkier side, just something to keep in mind if you're popping in and out of malls a lot!

What rashes is it?

Hi Mummies, anybody know what rashes is this? It has been there for awhile. Have been applying moisturizer to it...and now it has dried up...but patch size still remain the same #pleasehelp #advicepls

Honestly, without seeing it clearly it's really hard to say what kind of rash it is, and since it has been there for a while without shrinking, I think it would be good to bring your little one to see the PD just to be safe. A few of my mum friends had similar situations where the rash looked mild but the PD identified it straightaway and gave the right cream for it. Better to get a proper diagnosis than to keep guessing, especially if it is not going away on its own.

Honestly, this is such an important topic that I wish more new mums talked about openly, because when you are sleep deprived and anxious, it can be really hard to tell what is normal and what is not. A few of us in my mum group actually went through a KKH parenting talk early on and that helped us feel more confident spotting the warning signs. I remember bringing my newborn to the polyclinic once over something that turned out to be nothing, but the PD there told me it is always better to come in and check than to wait and worry. This is such an important topic for all new mums to be aware of, and I remember how anxious my whole group of us were in those early weeks not knowing what was normal and what was not. If you ever feel something is off with your newborn, please do not wait and just bring them to the PD or KKH, because with newborns it is always better to get checked out early and have peace of mind.

How tall is your boy at 3Yo

How tall is your son at age 3? My son seems to be very short. Any advise besides supplyment

Hey mama, don't worry too much, a few of us in my mum circle have boys around that age who were on the shorter side too, and most turned out just fine once we stopped comparing! Someone in my mum group mentioned that the growth chart percentile matters more than the actual number, as long as your boy is tracking consistently along his own curve, the PD usually isn't too alarmed. A few of us found that regular exercise like swimming really helped with appetite and overall growth, so that's worth trying alongside a balanced diet. That said, since every child is different, it's really best to bring it up with your PD or a paediatrician who can look at his growth curve over time and advise properly!

Honestly, one of the biggest things a few of us mums noticed is that kids mirror everything we do, so if we want them to say please and thank you, we have to be consistent about saying it ourselves at home first. My girl started picking it up naturally once she saw us modelling it every day, rather than just telling her what to do. One of my mum friends also always reminded her kids to greet relatives and neighbours, and she said it really stuck over time because it became a habit, not a one-off thing. Small, consistent moments at home really do build up lah.

I really feel you on this because I used to just pop my girl's puree straight into the microwave without thinking twice about it. When my PD mentioned that microwaves can heat unevenly and create hot spots, I started being more careful about stirring thoroughly and always testing the temperature on my wrist before feeding her. It is such a small habit change but it gives me so much more peace of mind lah.
