First time pregnant, help!

Hi all Mom's!! This is my my first pregnancy and I got tons of questions that need guidance from fellow experience moms. I just found out 1 week ago and went through polyclinic route to KKH. The first check I notice that KKH wait is super long even though u had an appointment date. Is this normal? Also, during the consultation/scan, the doctor seems to be very distracted/blur. Even after informing that I am not working currently, the doctor proceed to ask again if I needed HL (abit concern if they are really giving full attention when attending to me). Then during the check, especially ultra sound scan, when using transvaginal U/S it hurts. When feedback the doctor just said this is the max u will feel. Then continue to put pressure and it is really uncomfortable. I am wondering if this Is normal for mommies that go through KKH route?

The long waits at KKH are pretty standard unfortunately, a few mums I know went through the polyclinic route and said the first appointment itself can take 3 to 4 weeks to come through, and then on the day there's still quite a bit of waiting even with an appointment slot. It's the trade-off for the subsidized care, but I understand it's frustrating when you're anxious and just want answers! On the transvaginal ultrasound, some discomfort is normal in early pregnancy scans, but what you're describing (pressure that's really uncomfortable even after you've fed back) does sound like it went a bit far. A good sonographer should be responsive when you say something hurts; they can usually adjust their technique or take a break. The fact that the doctor seemed distracted about other details too makes me a bit concerned about the overall attention you received. Honestly, I'd say it's worth flagging this with your next appointment or even calling KKH to request a different doctor if you didn't feel heard, you have every right to do that. Your comfort and peace of mind matter, especially in your first pregnancy. If you're considering private care instead, do weigh up the costs, but don't feel stuck with an experience that didn't sit right with you. Worth a chat with your GP or the polyclinic doctor too about your options and concerns.

Separation anxiety?

My 9 m/o’s separation anxiety is getting worse. Sent her to school since she was 4 month old and she has been doing okay but recently ever since almost a month ago, she starts to cry whenever drop off time - but she doesnt when her favourite teacher carries her in school. She also doesnt want strangers or even my in laws and she wants to cling to me.. please tell me if she’s gnna outgrow this or it’s gnna get worse…

Hi! I totally understand, it's such a tough phase, but the good news is this is actually really normal and peaks right around her age. Nine months is when separation anxiety tends to hit hardest, so what you're seeing isn't unusual at all, and most babies do work through it as they get older and understand object permanence better. That said, a few things can help ease it: keeping drop-offs as consistent as possible (same time, same routine) seems to help a lot, the predictability makes it less scary for them. And since she clearly bonds well with her favourite teacher, it might be worth having that teacher do the handover each time if the school can swing it; some mums have found that makes a real difference. The fact that she's been settling at school since four months old is actually a positive sign, she knows the place, she just needs reassurance right now that you're coming back. The clinging phase usually does ease up over the next few months as she gets older and her understanding develops, but every baby moves at their own pace. It's worth checking in with her paediatrician too, just to make sure there's nothing else going on and to get their take on what might help her specifically.

pink ball noticed, prolapse?

Hi mummies, I recently noticed a blueberry sized pink ball at the bottom of my vag opening when i look through the mirror. when i lie down the ball disappears. i googled and everything said prolapse. im only 10 weeks pregnant. i did strain quite abit while going number 2 yesterday. I'm going to see my gynae in two days but im super worried. any mommies who experienced this before? Would appreciate any information on this!

Hey mum, I can hear the worry in your message. This one better not wait though, please call your gynae clinic today and explain what you saw, even if your appointment is in two days. They may want to check you sooner just to put your mind at ease. Try not to google too much in the meantime because it will only wind you up more, and honestly there could be so many reasons for what you're seeing. Your gynae will know what it is once they have a proper look. Hang in there.

Baby acne getting worst

Hi mummies, my baby is almost 3 weeks old and I noticed that his baby acne is getting worst. Used to be only on his cheeks but now spreading to his forehead. Is this normal? Should I visit the doctor for lotion to apply? What should I do

Lip tie issue

Hi mummies, does anyone’s newborn also have a lip tie issue? Went to PD for a follow up after discharge and was told that baby has lip tie. Anything that I should do or take note of?

Hi! So a friend took her baby for laser treatment at a pediatric dental clinic after being told about a lip tie, and she said the laser option was better than the clip because it's less likely to come back, that was really reassuring for her. In the meantime, do watch out for feeding issues like slow weight gain or if baby seems frustrated at the breast or bottle, since lip ties can sometimes make it harder for them to latch properly. Definitely worth asking your PD or a lactation consultant what they recommend for your little one's situation, since some babies manage fine and others benefit from treatment, it really depends on how it's affecting feeding.

I've heard quite good things about Josiah Montessori at Aperia! Most mums I know rave about how clean the centre is and how the teachers really take time to share observations with parents, it makes you feel like they actually know your baby and you're on the same page with routines and care.
