Sunflower Preschool Bedok

Hi all, any reviews or experiences with sunflower cove at bedok? Thinking of sending my lo there but there’s a fair bit of mixed but vague reviews.. 😓 do appreciate any help given!

I know how stressful it is trying to find the right preschool, so you are definitely not alone in feeling unsure! A friend of mine actually sent her child to a Sunflower outlet and she said the teachers were nurturing and quite attentive to the kids, which gave her a lot of peace of mind. It might be worth calling them to arrange a visit so you can get a feel for the environment yourself lah, sometimes seeing it in person makes all the difference.

Baby sitter nanny

Hi mummies, I’m looking for a nanny who would be able to baby sit my LO who is 4mths in Sep at my home in Serangoon for 5-6hrs everyday as I work from home. If any recommendations please do let me know. #pleasehelp #1stimemom

That first-time mum worry of finding someone you can truly trust with your LO is so real, and you are definitely not alone in this. I would suggest posting in the PCF or NTUC First Campus parent groups as some of their caregivers do take on private arrangements, and word-of-mouth from neighbours in Serangoon is usually the most reliable way to find someone good lah. You can also try the AYE or CaregiverAsia platforms where you can read reviews and do a background check before committing.

Safari House Preschool NTU alumni

Hello, does anybody have any reviews about the above preschool? Want to consider sending my son there.

Sending your child to a new school can feel a bit daunting, so I totally understand why you want to hear from other parents first. I don't have personal experience with Safari House at NTU, but a friend of mine did send her child there and said the teachers were quite attentive and the environment felt warm and nurturing for the little ones. It might also be worth reaching out to the school directly to arrange a visit so you can get a feel for the place yourself before deciding.

Parent accompanied playgroup

Hi mommies…is there any parent accompanied playgroup for 2 year old…pls suggest

finding the right playgroup for a two year old can feel a bit overwhelming especially when you want to stay close to your little one at that age. My girl was the same, she needed me right there before she could warm up to any new environment. You can try checking with your nearest community centre, as many of them run parent-accompanied toddler programmes that are quite affordable lah. It is also worth asking your PD or the polyclinic if they know of any recommended ones in your area, as they sometimes have a list of local resources.

Flu/Phlegm

Hi mummies! My 6 month old baby is having flu/phlegm/blocked nose for quite a while and recently, he has been coughing. Any tips to help him get better? Thank you so much in advance.

a blocked nose and cough at 6 months is so heartbreaking to watch because they can't even tell you how uncomfortable they feel. Since it has been going on for a while and the cough is new, it might be good to bring him to see the PD just to be safe, so they can check if his chest is clear. In the meantime, keeping his head slightly elevated during sleep and using a saline nasal spray to help loosen the mucus can give him a little relief. Hang in there, you are doing great by looking out for him.

I really feel you on this, baby clothes shopping is such a constant thing because they grow out of everything so fast! My girl could barely wear a onesie for two months before it was already too small lah. The Buy 1 Get 1 Free deal from Little Kooma sounds like really good value, especially since stocking up makes so much sense at this stage. I would grab it while it lasts since deals like this don't stay around long.

My LO hates sitting on strollers/tricycle

My LO is 14 months old, and she refuses to sit in the stroller or tricycle. I changed her stroller, and she also has the tricycle, but both she refused to sit down. Whenever we put her down in the stroller, she will start to scream and insist on being carried. She is close to 13kg, and I'm not able to carry her long term even with structured carriers. I have tried to put interactive stroller toys for her, but she's not interested at all. Any advices mummies or daddies? #pleasehelp #advicepls #firsttimemom

I really feel you on this, carrying a 13kg baby for long stretches is genuinely exhausting and it makes every outing so stressful. My girl went through a similar phase around that age where she just wanted to be held and would cry the moment we put her in the stroller. What helped us was letting her sit in the stroller at home first with no pressure, just playing around it and making it feel familiar and safe before we actually went out. You could also try starting with very short rides, even just down the corridor, so she slowly builds up comfort with it rather than associating it with long outings she cannot control.

To those who may be interested in Raffles Institution Primary Mathematics World Contest (RIPMWC) etc

(P.S. Apologies for this post in the wrong category) My child has been top in Maths so a few have recommended that my child participates in Math Olympiads. I wish they have not put the idea into my head. Recently, my child participated in RIPMWC 2023. Their mock test was depressing. Paid SGD33 for their Online Prep Course but both of us could hardly understand the solutions so much so that my child broke down sobbing. Utter waste of money! Have asked them for a refund though I doubt they will. Just a friendly message out to not send your child to Math Olympiads unless he/she has already undergone some form of training or even years of training. #utterlydepressing

My son went through something similar when we first started out with olympiad maths, the jump from school maths to competition maths is really steep, and most kids need structured coaching for months before the contest format even starts to make sense. It might be worth looking for a tutor who specialises in olympiad training first before trying the contest again lah.

Anyone sent baby to safari house buona vista for infantcare?

I've been rushing everyday because I chose ifc near house and often barely made it before 7pm and she's always the last baby. Anyone has for review for safari house ifc?

From what a few of us in my mum group have heard, Safari House Buona Vista generally gets good feedback, the teachers are experienced and they run quite a variety of activities, both indoor and outdoor, which is nice for the little ones. Communication is done through an app, so you can keep tabs on your baby throughout the day without having to call in. That said, I'd still recommend visiting in person and asking specifically about their closing time and pickup flexibility, since your situation with the 7pm rush sounds really stressful and it's worth sorting out before you commit!

Baby drinks little after solid

My 5.5 month old is on solid. As she is in IFC she would have breakfast, lunch and tea time Throughout the day she only drink 300ML or less than that. Ive heard that until age of one baby’s main nutrition is milk but she has been refusing milk 2 weeks after start solid. Idk what to do 🤷🏻‍♀️ i believe 300ml is not enough for baby (throughout 24 hours is 300-400ml sometimes) Any mummies experience the same?

Please if your baby still in 5-12 month, do not give them with tea or another colorful drink. Just give them a pure mineral water and also their milk. If its still happen, please go to a doctor for more proper information detail
