Switch to kkh private after 32 weeks

Anyone switched to kkh private gynae after 32 weeks and managed to get private gynae ? I know they say to switch to private asap if needed due to dr’s availability. But just want to know if theres any mummies that switched after 30+ weeks. #FTM

isn't it not worth it to switch at 30 weeks ? I think if you are doing great under subsidies, it will cost more for private and you are already in 3rd tri

No labor sign on EDD

Im ftm, entering 3rd trim and would like to know. Im under KKH subsidised. Since we dont have a “gynae” to contact, What do we do if there is still no labor sign on our EDD? Do we still wait at home or go to hospital ? How do we know if we will get induced due to overdue? At which week will be our very last antenatal appointment? #FTM

when you go for your appointments in KKH? your gynae (whoever it is) will know your progress and tell you ?

A1 ward KKH bills after medisave

Those that gave birth within this/last year, how much was your hospital bill that you need to cash out after medisave ? For A1 ward. Will it exceed $5-6k? Other than complication, will maternity and hospital insurance help for this ? #FTM #firstbaby

I really feel you on this, being a first-time mum and trying to plan the finances is so stressful on top of everything else. From what I know from friends who delivered at KKH A1 ward recently, the out-of-pocket cash after Medisave can vary quite a bit depending on your length of stay and whether there were any extras. It is worth calling KKH's billing counter directly to ask for an estimated breakdown, they are usually quite helpful with that. For the insurance part, it really depends on your specific maternity and hospital plan, so I would check with your insurer whether normal delivery is covered or only complications, as some plans only kick in for the latter.

Gynae recommendation (pregnancy with hyperthyroidism)

Hi, any gynae to intro that has experience in seeing pregnancy with hyperthyroidism?

I really feel you on this, managing hyperthyroidism during pregnancy can feel so overwhelming and you want someone who truly knows what they are doing. From what I have seen among friends, it is worth asking your current gynae or PD for a referral to a specialist at KKH or NUH, as they have dedicated high-risk pregnancy teams who regularly handle thyroid conditions. You could also call KKH's women's outpatient clinic directly to ask if they have a gynae who specialises in this, because they tend to be quite helpful over the phone. I hope you find someone you feel comfortable with soon, because having the right doctor really makes such a big difference in keeping both you and baby well through the whole journey.

Speech Therapy at NuH

Anyone kids being refer to speech therapy at NuH? How much does it cost? My son was refer to NuH speech therapy due to unable to speak clearly after his 2yrs assesment at polyclinic.

I really feel you on this, it can be quite worrying when the polyclinic refers them out after the assessment. I don't have the exact figures for NUH speech therapy on hand, but I'd suggest calling the NUH appointment line directly to ask about the subsidised rates, especially if your son is a Singapore citizen as the subsidy can make quite a difference. My girl had a similar referral a while back and the admin staff were quite helpful when I just called to ask upfront before the first visit. Hope your son's sessions go smoothly and he starts to open up more soon.

Week 36/37 delivery NICU?

From what i read week 38 is considered as full term. So if the bb born between 36-37 it will be considered as premature baby and need stay NICU for few day?

37 wks is already full term

Which day to deliver

Assuming no complications at week 39 to 40, which day of the week and time for admission is better to admit for induction? Or no difference?

coming from the medical field.. it’s best to admit on a Monday morning, when hospital is sufficiently staffed with personnel. if that is your concern.

Do we need to off uv sterilizer

Ftm here. Noted that after washing bottles, we would need to dry & sterilize them. For uv sterilizer, once we have done with the sterilizing cycle, if we choose to leave it inside the sterilizer, can we plug off the sterilizer or need to leave it on as long as we store it ? #firsttimemom #advicepls

TMC hospital bill

Hi, may i check if anyone has recently gave birth in TMC? Mind to share your hospital bill? TIA!!!

I really feel you on this, because hospital bills can feel so stressful to navigate when you are already preparing for so much. I gave birth at TMC a couple of years back and the final bill really depends on a few things like whether you go subsidised or private, which gynae you choose, your ward type, and how many days you end up staying. It would help if you could share a bit more about your situation, like which gynae you are under and whether you are planning a natural birth or C-section, so the mums here can give you a more accurate comparison lah. I think quite a few mums here have recent TMC experience so hopefully they can chime in with their actual numbers for you soon.

Wash baby bottles & breastpump

Ftm here, im planning to wash my baby clothes during 3rd trim. However for bottles and breastpumps, do i wash them early? Or only wash and sterilise when back from hospital when needed?

Yes wash and keep in ziplock if you can. As for breast pump should sterilize and bring to hospital
