What do you usually do if your child suddenly vomits the whole night? Wait till morning clinic, or go hospital straight away? LO vomited whole night, greenish and watery.

14 months sleep

My 14 month sleeps at 8pm and wakes up by 6am. How do I get him to sleep longer? He also wakes up 1 time in the night between 4-5am- sometimes he wants milk, sometimes just Pat back to sleep.

10 hours of average sleep at night seems absolutely okay to me, Roshni. Do you really still want him to sleep more? 😃 You are quite fortunate in a way compared to many parents 😃.

What's the difference between a planned and an emergency caesarean?

Planned c-sections may happen for a variety of reasons before the onset of labour - previous c-section, complications in pregnancy, or request for c-section. It is scheduled in advanced and everything is planned beforehand. An emergency c-section happens when a decison has been made to deliver the baby quickly, and this is usually decided when there is an issue with labour such as slow labour progression or the baby being in distress.

Why are some babies born with low birth weight?

Some could be due to hereditary reasons but what we are afraid of is babies with low birth weights because they are not growing well, also know as intra uterine growth restriction/retardation (IUGR). Babies not growing well could be due to the mother having a medical problem. For example, high blood pressure or badly controlled diabetes, which can affect the growth of the baby. Sometimes, it's due to he lack of oxygen for many reasons - it could be an umbilical cord being twisted or the placenta is not healthy so less blood flow to the baby, the mother having an infection that gets transmitted to the baby. Other reasons include chronic alcoholism, chronic smoking and use of recreational drugs. These are some common reasons in addition to the baby having structural or chromosomal abnormalities.
