Hi, my lo is going to be 6mo in 1 wk plus..i tried offering him semi solid yesterday (apple puree) and today (pear puree) and the reaction is like we are feeding some poison..lol. he also dont really open up his mouth when the spoon is nearing..and i can see his tongue kept pushing out the puree and spitting out...does this mean he have not lost his tongue thrust reflex and not ready for solid yet? Then i tried to finish the puree in front of him to show him how to eat...he is not interested and will turn away. We only recently started to put him on high chair to observe our meal times and most of the times..he is looking elsewhere. Dont seem interested in food yet. What shall i do? Shall i continue to try feeding him puree or should i stop and wait till 6mo or later? What if 6mth come and he is still pushing food out using his tongue?

Wait till 6 months. No hurry. Pls start with either cereal or veggie purée and not fruits. Get them used to savoury first. We recently started and baby takes avocado, spinach, sweet potatoes, carrot and corn so far. She does not like cereal or yoghurt very much, rest she is ok with.

My 9m baby is still not holding on toys with 2 hands and even with one hand he is unable to hold toys bigger than his palms. But no issues with those small toys like rattles, spectacles etc that are easy to grab. He does hold milk bottle with both hands during feeds but other than that he refuses to hold the bottle. Do u think I need to be concerned ? As for other milestones, he can roll and sit well and stand leaning on sofa for support but not yet crawl. Character wise he is very laid back

I wouldnt be worried if he has reached all the necessary milestones. The big items might be too heavy for him to hold hence the interest to hold, is not there. Go slow, all babies are different. Some walk faster some slower. When the baby is ready, he will surprise you with all the things that you are worried.

What are the cheese that you give to your child?

Hi there, how old is your baby? Cheese is very good for baby and can be introduced as early as 8 months as long as baby has no dairy allergies. You can introduce the lighter tasting cheeses like American, Jack and Colby to baby first. String cheese is also a good choice.

What should you do if you accidentally cut baby's fingertips?

Found this article with very clear instructions (given by Dr Tham Lai Peng, senior consultant at KK Hospital): Run the finger under running water, and press on the wound to stop the bleeding. Clean it with antiseptic solution and cover with a non-stick sterile dressing. This first-aid method applies to all cuts. While you might be eager to check on it, refrain from changing her dressing too frequently. Do so only every three to four days as removing it daily will pull off the healing tissue and prolong recovery. But see a doctor immediately if the bleeding is serious. Hi Mummies!! My LO is going for her 3rd month jab tomorrow and I'm afraid she might get fever. How to prevent it? Do you all give fever med after injection eventhou ur LO does not have fever? TIA

My baby never had a fever after any jab. Think you should wait and see. The Doctors will also give you baby Panadol

Hi mummies. My girl had her hep b 2nd dose at the polyclinic and is scheduled for her 3rd month (5-in-1) jab soon. However, I'm thinking of switching her to my regular pd for the 6-in-1 jabs. Is it still possible as I understand the combination is slightly different for polyclinics and private clinics? Feel that I am more comfortable having a doctor who knows my girl's medical history to administer the jab instead of having different nurses administering the jabs each time we go to the polyclinic. Thanks!

I think it's 5-in-1 followed by another 5-in-1 and final with 6-in-1 in your case.

My lo is 5.8kg Born on 9 april 16 4.5mth old PD and nurse said her weight gain is not enough. How to make sure her weight is increasing at good rate? Height is normal but weight is increasing at a slower rate. LO is bottle feed so i know how much is her intake. 6oz to 7oz per feed 2hrly feeding STTN. Is it due to my bm or LO nv absorb?
