Anyone go checkup at SGH? How was it?

First time mum here still decides which hospital to go.

I am following up at SGH as a subsidised patient, and I think it has been great.

No appetite to eat

I used to eat alot. but ever since i got pregnant, Iam always feeling nauseous with no appetite. But i vomit when eat. Anyone feeling the same?

Same! all day for me too. hopefully all will be better as it goes 🙏

Low fetal heart rate at week 6.

Hi, gynae saw the fetal pole but told me I have a low fetal heart rate. I was asked to go back for a scan again 2 weeks later. Based on last period, I should be week 9 but gynae only measure at week 6. Anyone experience it before? Was worried about the fetal heart rate.

Maybe cos its week 6 hence the reading is still unstable. For my case, im supposed to be at week 9 but after scan, was told is week 7+ based on size. I'm also scheduled for another scan in 2 weeks time. Let's jiayou together ❤️

NIPT and NT scan test

Has anyone had their nipt and nt done? What’s the normal range for nbl?

I've had both done, and honestly the NT scan was pretty straightforward! From what I've gathered, the normal range for nuchal translucency is generally below 2.5 to 3.5 mm depending on your gestational age and which percentile your clinic uses, so there's a bit of a window there rather than one strict number. The NIPT is the blood test that screens for chromosomal issues, and that's usually just a waiting game for results rather than something you see measured in real time like the ultrasound. A few mums I know have mentioned that different clinics here in Singapore sometimes use slightly different thresholds, so it's worth asking your doctor what their specific normal range is and what your measurements came back as, that way you're comparing apples to apples and can understand where you sit. Definitely worth checking with your own doctor or specialist too, since they'll have your full picture and can explain what any findings mean for you specifically!

Whats your experince giving birth under subsidiary?

Has anyone experienced birth at both KKH and NUH under subsidiary. What is your experience like for both? and is it true for KKH triage, your spouse cant be in the room with you?

I gave birth at KKH under the subsidised route and also had a great one. to be honest, its really about the exception. I heard alot on the long waiting hours, but thru out my whole pregnancy, the wait was ok, as long as u are not late for your appt. They won't scan every appt, so if u want, den hav to request and pay for it. u will see different doctor at every appt, which I think its good cos I can have different views on things. So it really depends on what u want and ur expectations

First trimester anxiety

Hi fellow mummies. After a 14 year gap, i am pregnant again. Remarried and yes its planned. Maybe i dont recall being pregnant anymore, so i dont know how it is meant to feel. First trimester is all about the development of fetus which I am aware of. I found out i was pregnant at 5 weeks of pregnancy. It was a difficult time from 5-19 weeks with nausea. And comes 10 weeks, im getting more stable with the symptoms but im feeling anxious about not “feeling pregnant”. I am not sure if im just spiralling but with thr symptoms then, im assured theres a being inside me. With the stability, im worried if there might be none. I had my scans and heard the heartbeat. I guess my anxiety is getting the best of me.

I totally get this, because you've been through the nausea and discomfort as your reassurance, and now that it's settling down your mind is playing tricks on you. But honestly, the fact that you've already had your scans and heard the heartbeat is the real reassurance, not the symptoms, and that's actually a good sign for how the pregnancy is progressing. Symptoms do come and go in the first trimester, and some women feel less as they move through it, so what you're experiencing is quite normal. If the anxiety keeps creeping in though, might be worth having a chat with your gynae or even the polyclinic about it, because they can give you that extra peace of mind and maybe even arrange a quick scan if you need one. You've done all the right things so far, so try to trust that.

Hi! Im a first time mom to be and read alot about drs in kkh vs nuh. Anyone can recommend a female gynae dr and which trimester/weeks should I switch to private (own gynae). I read about dr cassandra cheong. She is also at woodlands health which is very accessible for me! Read about dr suzanna and dr chitra.. but because they are very known.. i doubt im able yo get hold of them. Thankyou in advance ♥️

Both KKH and NUH are solid choices, so it really depends on what matters most to you. KKH tends to have shorter wait times and their team is very efficient, while NUH also has good facilities but can get quite crowded depending on the clinic day. If Woodlands Health works better for your location and schedule, that's honestly a big plus because consistency matters more than the brand name of the hospital. Most mums I know switched to private around second trimester onwards if they wanted a specific doctor, but some stuck with the public system throughout and were perfectly happy. I'd suggest booking a consultation with Dr Cassandra Cheong first to see if you click with her, then decide if private makes sense for your situation.

KKH gynae introduction

I wanna deliver at KKH. Any gynae to intro?

I delivered at KKH with my first and honestly just went with whoever was assigned to me during my antenatal visits, then that same doc was on call when I went into labour. If you want to request a specific gynae, I'd suggest calling KKH's maternity department directly to ask about their process and which doctors deliver there regularly - they're usually quite helpful with that. Some mums also ask their GP or polyclinic PD for recommendations if they know someone who delivered there recently.

Parents with three kids

Parents with three kids Just took a pregnancy test and it indicates positive. This would be my third kid if all goes well. I currently have two kids under 5 years old. We never planned for a third kid but were open to one. We were actually contented with two kids and didn't know this surprise would come earlier than expected. Feel a little mixed now, excited and yet worried about going through pregnancy at 35 years old! Both of us are working and our kids go to pre school. We are very fortunate that our parents help with pick up and dinner on weekdays. Likely need a helper for this third one - my parents are unlikely to handle a third one. Any tips on choosing a helper for kids and the questions to ask? What are the chores that are delegated to the helper? I'm open with helper taking care of the kid, or baby after three months. Other logistics I need to prepare for? Car unlikely as we are good with train and cabs now, and thinking the third one would just make us go out far lesser. Also any female gynea to recommend? Did not deliver in Singapore for the first two. Thank you in advance.

Congratulations on your third, and it's totally normal to feel that mix of emotions lah. I was 36 when my third came and honestly it went fine, though I was definitely more tired than the first two times. Since your parents can't stretch further, a helper really does change the game at this stage of life, especially with two under five still demanding so much. For choosing a helper, I'd ask about their experience with newborns specifically (can they do night feeds if needed), their approach to the older two (some helpers are better with multiple kids), and be very clear upfront about whether they'll handle laundry, cooking, or just childcare. Some people delegate everything; I kept cooking to myself but had my helper do school runs, laundry, and baby care. It really depends on your family's rhythm. Don't hesitate to ask for references and do a proper trial period. On logistics, honestly you might find you go out more with a helper, not less, because she can hold the fort while you take the older two out. A third stroller seat isn't essential if your helper can stay home with baby sometimes. For gynae, I had good experiences with the paediatrician-referred obstetricians at KKH, and some private practices near the East Coast have good reputations too. Your first two births abroad might mean you have preferences on pain relief or delivery style that are worth discussing early with whoever you pick. The pregnancy at 35 is genuinely fine these days, just book your first scan soon to put your mind at ease.

Anyone delivered with O&G

Hello everyone, i am doing some budgeting. I am 7 weeks and choosing whether to go private or public. Private is def better, no waiting time and last min appointment etc. If anyone has experience with O&G care clinic, could u share total cost please?

I went private with my first at a clinic in the west and honestly it was about 5-6k total for the whole pregnancy plus delivery, but it really depends on which O&G you see and whether there are any complications along the way. Public at KKH is definitely cheaper (you're looking at maybe 1-2k all in) but yes, the wait times can be longer and appointments are harder to shift around.
