A1 or B1 Maternity Ward NUH

Im quite conflicted on whether I should go for A1 or B1 for the maternity ward, I’m delivering at NUH and I understand that deposit for A1 is abt $2.6k cash and $1.5k cash for B1. Would be great if mums who have given birth at NUH share on their experience🙇🏻‍♀️ Like is it worth getting the A1? #advicepls

So many mums go through this same dilemma, you are definitely not the only one thinking so hard about it! A friend of mine delivered at NUH in B1 and she said the care was really good, the nurses were attentive and she felt well looked after throughout her stay, so she felt it was worth the lower deposit. She mentioned that if you have a good Medisave balance and your insurance covers a decent portion, B1 is honestly quite comfortable and you won't feel like you're missing out lah.

Luckybaby Vs baby brezza milk dispenser

Anyone used either of the above? What's your review on the product? Does it make your job easier? 😅 Asking as I have a toddler who still drinks formula & have an upcoming baby which I plan I to bf. So thought of getting a milk dispenser to make it easier for hubs when he handles toddler milk. 😅

Totally understand the juggle of managing a toddler and a newborn at the same time, it is a lot to handle! A friend of mine used the Baby Brezza for her toddler and said it was a lifesaver especially for the husband during night shifts because he could just press a button and it dispensed the right amount without fussing with scoops. She mentioned it was easy to clean and pretty accurate with the portions, so she felt it was worth the investment for the convenience alone.

Congrats on your pregnancy and switching to private care, that can feel like such a big decision so you are definitely not alone in wanting some reassurance before committing fully. I don't have direct experience with Dr Vanaja myself, but hopefully some other mummies here who have seen her at NUH can chip in with their fees and delivery experience soon. In the meantime, you can also call NUH's billing enquiry line directly and they can give you a rough breakdown of consultation and delivery package costs so you are not caught off guard lah.

Hi mummies, does this poop consistency means diarrhoea? My 3 mth old pooped 4 times today than his usual 1-2 times a day. Volume wise not much. He is mixed fed, bm and fm.

Oh don't worry too much, a few of us in my mum group went through the same confusion at around 3 months! For mixed-fed babies, the poop can already vary quite a bit since breastmilk tends to produce looser, more frequent stools while formula makes it thicker and more yellowish-brown, so the combination can make things look inconsistent from day to day. The key thing to watch is whether the poop is very watery and coming out in larger volumes than usual, if it's just a bit more frequent but still smallish amounts, it may not be true diarrhoea. That said, do keep a close eye on whether he seems unsettled, is feeding well, and has enough wet diapers, and it's always worth checking with your paediatrician just to be sure!

Any idea what rashes are these on my baby's ankle?

A few of us in my mum group have had babies with rashes at that age and honestly it can be so hard to tell just by looking what the cause is. It might be good to bring her to see the PD soon, just to be safe, especially since she is only 4 months old and her skin is still so sensitive. One of my mum friends always says for anything on the skin at this age, better not to wait and see too long. The PD can check properly and advise on whether it needs any treatment.

Pigeon Antipyretic Plaster

Hi, can I use pigeon antipyretic plaster on 4months old infant? Or is there any other recommendation to help baby with nose blocked and phlegm? Thanks

The Pigeon Antipyretic Plaster with eucalyptus oil is actually recommended from 6 months, so at 4 months it's better to use the regular Fever Cool Plaster instead, that one is safe from 0 months and lasts up to 8 hours. For the blocked nose and phlegm, my neighbour brought her baby to the PD and was advised to use saline drops and a nasal aspirator rather than any chest plasters at this age. Do check with your own PD though, since every baby is different at this stage.

Brown spot on baby nails

My 8 month old baby had a small brown tint in her toe nail for the last 15 days...she usually hit her leg very hard on her high chair ...so we thought it is normal...is it normal?#firsttimemom #pleasehelp

Brown spot on baby nails

If she knocked her toe hard, a brown spot under the nail is usually just a bruise from the impact and tends to fade on its own. That said, since it has been there 15 days, it is worth a quick trip to the PD just to rule out anything else and put your mind at ease.

Short term financial help

Has anyone here applied for the short term com care help from SSO? May I know what are the required docs & do they question your expenditure based off the bank statement provided? My husband has been laid off from work since day I have birth to #3 and we've been struggling financially. Savings are almost depleted but we're worried that application might not go through.

Just try and apply! Even if you don't qualify, the sso may also help refer you to other community resources and assistance

Advice for helper

Hello mummies.. do you guys have helper at home? Which nationality helper would be your preferred to take care of 2kids (2years old & 5years old)? Any experience to share? I currently have a Myanmar helper but I feel she is not able to manage 2kids at one time independently and also not really interested getting involved with kids play time.
