My 7yo school going daughter is quite forgetful and can misplace things or cannot remember some of things that happen in school that day. Is this common or should i consider having her seen a doctor?
Hi there mommy, I think it's normal. Different children have different personalities at that age. Some kids are laser focus and have uncannily great memories while some are just more distracted easily. When I was a child, I was more of the latter. Teachers would always say that I have my head in the clouds but it never affected my grades or socialisation skills so they pretty much left me alone. Don't worry about it for now. If her grades start to slip or she complains about pain in her head (headaches) or problems with vision, then you oughta worry -- could be an old head trauma of sorts.
Read moreI have the same issue with my 7yo! He remembers things to a T when he wants to, but other times, he will forget his water bottle, his wallet etc. When asked, he will smile and say "Oh sorry, I forgot, I'll check it tomorrow." But it keeps happening. I do agree with other mummies that kids have a lot on their minds and Pri 1 is a pretty volatile environment as opposed to kindergarten years. Let's give it time 😊 I've seen older primary school kids being very on top of things about their school activities and responsibilities.
Read moreWhen I was 7, my mom had my 2 year old brother and a newborn brother, so her hands were full with them and she could not keep an eye on my school work. I was very forgetful at that time too, I kept forgetting to check my notebook and bring the correct textbooks to school. The school teacher had to chat with my mom and after that my mom made it a point to check on me often. I think you may just have to supervise her more closely. After all, young children are still very dependable on their parents.

I think normal, they just transit from kindergarten so still need time to adjust. My gal forgot her eraser on 2nd day of sch, 2 or 3 weeks later forgot her landyard, now even left her homework in sch. 🤦♀️
Mine too. Sometimes ask me whether he bathe aredi or not when he has bathed 3 hours ago. I think there r too many activities going on so may not remember the unimportant ones....
My nephew lose the wallet, the watch just when he enter primary 1 this year. I think they are adapting
It's normal but you should continue to encourage her to improve
