Hii, anyone has any reviews on First Steps Preschool in Sengkang?

Hmm, I don't have a lot of detailed firsthand info on First Steps Preschool specifically, but from what I've generally heard, it's the one near Greenwich V (formerly Initium Academy), so it's been around for a while under a different name. Some parents around the area seem fairly happy with it, the teachers come across as kind and attentive, and the environment is kept clean. That said, I haven't heard enough strong reviews either way to give you a really confident picture, so it might be worth doing a school visit and asking them directly about curriculum, fees, and whether they have a bus option, just to weigh it up properly against other nearby schools like Moriah Schoolhouse at Greenwich V which I've heard decent things about too.

Do you allow your child to use gadget?

My children love using ipad to watch videos and play lingokids. Am I harming them by letting them do that? Will the SPF webinar of digital technology address this ?

Honestly, I think most of us are somewhere in the middle on this, it really depends on the age and how long they're on it each day. From what I've heard, the general guideline paediatricians follow is no screens at all for under twos, then keeping it to around two hours maximum after that, so if your kids are older and it's within that range, you're probably not doing too badly. The concern people usually raise is less about the content (Lingokids is actually quite purposeful) and more about attention span over time, there's quite a bit of evidence linking heavy screen use to concentration issues in young children, and some parents I know noticed their kids getting harder to manage once the iPad became a daily habit. That said, I'd say the SPF webinar is worth attending because digital literacy is a real conversation now, though I'm not sure it goes deep into the developmental health angle specifically, you may want to complement it with a chat with your child's paediatrician for more tailored advice. Weighing it all up, structured, time-limited use with intentional content seems to be the middle ground most families find workable.

Hi mommies, anyone know what’s this in my son mouth. Seems like a meat. He’s not any pain or discomfort.

My son had something similar once, a small lump on his gum, and I was so anxious until our PD had a look and explained it to us. Since we cannot really tell just from a description what it might be, I would bring him to see the PD or a dentist soon, just to be safe and get a proper check done. Even if he seems comfortable now, it is always better to have a professional take a look rather than guess.

what baby wash do you use for your (active) toddlers?

For my kids, we use Lactacyd Toddlertubs Splash. i've tried other brands before and this is the scent that we really love. It is long lasting so even if they perspire a lot, you can still smell the body wash.

Feeling stupid and useless mother

Have you ever felt like you tried your hardest to calm your own child down and no matter what you did, be patient, be calm, letting them release their tantrums and listen to them; yet still after all that your child is still not calm. But when someone else took him/her away instantly quiet and okay. I have and I feel stupid and useless. It’s like I am not my own child’s mother. I feel like I can’t even calm and control my own child. Like as if I’m not defeated enough by my own child that I cannot make him/her stop crying, keep calm and what not. After seeing that he/she able to be quiet after taking away by someone… I felt more defeated. I felt more useless. I felt so hopeless that I’m questioning myself if that is my own child. I don’t know. Maybe I’m over thinking, but don’t act as if you never over think about all this. Maybe I’m just overworked, but don’t tell me you have never felt this before. I just need somewhere to let all this out. I don’t need any replies. Just affirmation that mothers out there have been through what I have and share how you dealt with this emotions and depressive thoughts I have right now.

16 month old doing hip hump before going to sleep/nap

This hip humping came about 2 fridays ago. It is right before my LO sleeps or nap. Is this normal? Any sleep expert out there to advice?

Wagon stroller or double stroller Phil &teds. ?

Hi mummies, any idea which is the best and compact stroller as I will be traveling with my 5y and 2y. We will be using public transport mainly. Even here, is wagon convenient to bring into the mall? Lift and bus.
