Unable to calm baby down

I can’t calm my crying 1 month old by carrying him. But my mil can do so instantly. Makes me feel really flustered, frustrated and stressed 😫 I tried relaxing my body but still can’t and I can only breastfeed him to stop the crying 😭 anyone shared similar experience and have some tips? I had this experience before. When my baby accidentally injured his head, he was crying uncontrollably. Even when I carried him, tried swinging left right, bouncing softly up down, patting him but he just cannot stop. Then my Mil took over, hugged him tightly and he stopped crying. I wasn’t certain if it was because my mil felt very motherly and calm, the way she carries the baby made him feels very secured and the singing soothed him. But from then onwards I started to observe my tone, the way I carry and how I console my baby. I think baby could feel if we were anxious, panicked or upset. So when he cries, I tried to be as calm, carried him in a way I feel im in control and empowered. Cause I’m the mother after all. Anyway, some also said babies cry the loudest when they are with their mothers. Go check it out. Hehe Don’t worry so much, eventually they will still be the closest to you.

hi mummies! my baby is turning 6 months this week and i thought of changing milk. currently, she's drinking s26🥹 i was looking for more affordable and can help with her bowel movement as she pooped alternate 2 days. can recommend me any brand that you've tried? thank u!!

LO prefers to have solids first instead of drinking milk

hi all, my LO is 6mo and we’ve recently started solids. everytime LO wakes up from his 2nd nap he’d refuse to be fed milk and would cry until he’s fed with solids first. what should i do to make LO drink milk first instead of being fed solids? #advicepls #firsttimemom

at 6mo, solids are good to have. I'd follow his preference for solids first, then milk

Baby carry for long hours

Is it safe to put baby in carrier for day naps for 2-3 hours? I need my hands free to do work. Mine is a Konny baby carrier. I’m always afraid that her spine will be curved or affected or it will be too restrictive for her to move? Are there any concerns?

Honestly, for our own sanity, do what makes baby peaceful or sleep. Konny baby carrier is still safe as it does not pressure the spine and baby sits in an M position. If really baby need to be carried to sleep and i need to do things, ill just use carrier.

3 months old weight slowed down

Is it normal for 3 months old slowed down in gaining weight? His weight has been the same for 3-4 weeks. Previously he was gaining weight quite fast. Now is 5.85kg at 3 months old. Feeding FM 120ml, every 3hrs, sleeping through the night. No feeding issue. Did not lose any weight so far. Is it normal? He weighs 3.08kg at birth At what rate should baby be gaining weight ? Is it like every 2-3 weeks or so. And from the app it shows baby should be at least 6kg

I would refer to the health booklet instead of 3rd party app. growth happens in "leaps" instead of a steadily growing daily. wait for the next leap!

Hungry or want a pacifier?

Is my baby hungry or wants a pacifier? Baby fusing but refusing to latch is she hungry or just wants to suck on a pacifier?

there's no harm giving her a pacifier to try. or maybe she is feeling gassy, burp her. or she wants to be closer to you via kangaroo hug

Flight with 3.5months old

Hi mummies, ill be travelling to malaysia and taking a 1.5hr flight with my almost 4 months old baby. Baby is bottle fed, not bf. Anything i should take note of ? Any tips? Any extra things i should bring ? Other than feeding baby during taking off & landing, can i just give pacifier ? And if baby is crying, can we actually walk to wards the end of the airplane ? The toilet area there to calm baby? (When seat belts can be out) Should i just let baby sit on my lap or babywear in konny wrap/ergo? #FTM

Bring some toys that baby usually plays at home but if it’s a 1.5hr, try to let baby stay awake and then sleep before boarding. You can use pacifier instead of feeding its fine. Yes you can, you’ll definitely get stares if baby cries but just ignore them. It depends on your baby, if baby normally sleeps well in carrier then use the baby wear, when sitting down, konny will be better and more comfortable for you compared to ergo. If you’re worried about the pressure in ears can consider ear muffs (not sure if 3.5m got suitable ear plugs). If everything above doesn’t works and you still have a crying baby……screen time or play music.

Drinking lesser milk (baby only 13 days old)

Hi, my baby have been drinking at 80ml to 100ml per feed..but this 2 days, drinking only 50ml to 60ml per feed..is this an issue i need to worry about it?

If baby does not fuss and still gaining weight should be fine. I remember my baby only drinking like 30-60ml before 1st month.

Baby flu - what to do

Aside from going to GP what to do when 4 months old suddenly have flu? Runny nose and sneezing. And is it very harmful for them? Baby can still breathe normally just that got wheezing sound due to the mucus We’re currently using sterimar nasal spray and nasal aspirator but like not helping. #firsttimemom
