breastmilk beneficial after 1 year old?

Hi mummies. Is breastmilk still beneficial after 1 year old? Should i continue to breastfeed since baby is 1 year old now? Heard some stories about BM being not nutritious enough for toddlers after 1 year old.

Yes, breastmilk is still beneficial after 1 year old. It’s recommended to continue breastfeeding until 2 years old. A variety of solids plus breastmilk are very nutritious. There are a lot of antibodies in breastmilk which can help prevent your baby from falling sick or help your baby recover faster.

Hey mummy may I know the solution to engorged breast? I tried the cold cabbage method but it only gave me temporary relief.

Hi! Sometimes we spent 30 to 40 min trying to get a burp outta my LO, but ended up giving up and put him back to sleep. If you can't get a burp out, how long do you try?

Hey hey, Breastfeeding mummies & mum-to-be! Whether you're exclusive pumping or full on latching, you will need a breast pump along the way. Here's my personal review on it: The silicon inserts fit me perfectly and provides great comfort during each pump. Furthermore, I am able to adjust different suction levels for each individual side even when dual-pumping! It really helps me as I require different suction levels for each different side and sometimes I end up single pumping which may take up more time. With this combo, I saw an increase in the amount of milk I pumped without abrasion! Importantly, It takes me about 15 to 20mins to fully drain instead of 30mins or sometimes i take 40 mins. Their customer service is great too, friendly and patient in Helping me to get the correct flange size. Their delivery is speedy too, delivered the next day! Side note! its rectangular shape can fit into most of my handbags and it's important to me since I am an exclusive pumping mummy! trying to stop milk supply

hi mummies i’m weaning baby off bm, trying to stop milk supply. however i dislike the pump. so i reduce my latching times and also prolong the time between each latch. will this work? how long will it take? any experience to share? TYVM.

Yes drag pump and reduce latching will help but the duration taken to completely not produce milk varies for individual

My baby blood group and my blood group is not the same. She is having jaundice. Should i stop breastfeeding her?

No. Breastmilk jaundice is not caused by the difference in blood group. You should continue to breastfeed if you have the supply because breastmilk is the best you can give to your baby for now. Breastmilk has other qualities which can strengthen her immunity. You should feed even more consistently and see what the doctor say. If the levels remain high, just go for phototherapy if need be.

Should I buy breast pump before delivery ? Some of my friends recommend me not to buy first in case I am not able to breastfeed.

frozen bm smell

Hi mummies, anyone gone through this whereby your LO seems to reject ur warmed up frozen ebm, and the ebm seems to smell? Mine smelled like vomit. Did a little Google search and suspect it is due to lipase activity. Would a lactation consultant be any helpful if i consult him/her? Hope to make feeding of my LO as pleasant as possible. It is very stressful and unhappy for us now.

To keep that smell low you got to store in freezer as soon as you pump. Alternatively, you can mix frozen bm and fresh bm to let baby get used to it. Start off with 70 percent fresh and frozen 30 percent. Slowly become 50 50. Then 30 fresh 70 frozen. And after baby ok full frozen.

weight not increasing

Baby weight has not been increasing much after 5months old. Full direct latch , is it normal cause he refuse bottle feeding ?

Same! But as long as hitting milestones, I'm sure it's fine! Please double check with doctor at baby's 6 months check up!

Mother in law does not allow me to drink cold drinks at all cause it’ll cause my baby to have asthma. Not even a glass or a sip. Is this true?
