Travelling in 23/24 weeks via plane

Hi mummies! Thinking of travelling in 23/24 weeks, can I go ahead and book the ticket first then consult the gynae? Or do I need a green light from gynae before I book my flight ticket? Also do we need a letter from gynae on the pregnancy? Thank you! #pleasehelp #advicepls #firsttimemom

You can proceed with gynae certification then once approved you book the flight ticket to your destination. Having said that you can also check on the airlines T&C before booking.

Covid shot booster

Hi, anyone got covid booster shots in second or third trimester of pregnancy. Any suggestions?

Covid booster shot can be postpone to when you give birth weeks or months later. It is not necessary unless gynae/doctor gives green light. I was advise to postpone as I took other vaccines during pregnancy which is advice for pregnant mummies. So my booster shot will wait till I give birth. Having said that, as long as other compulsory vaccine has already been taken, this can definitely await you.

What baby items do Thomson Medical provide after delivery?

Hi all, for those who had delivered at TMC in the last 2 years, please share what baby items were given? For example, I heard TMC gives a baby bathtub. Would like to understand, so as to better plan what items buy and avoid repeated items. Thanks! #firsttimemom #TMC

The one they provide is a square small tub, newborns can’t even ‘lie’ down kind (small). Leftover diapers. 1 full set of discharge clothings including swaddle. The goodie bags they give every year is different so you have to check on their website. For mine (2021), inside the goodie bag they have baby lotion and diaper cream. You will still need to get everything yourself haha. The goodie bags more for mummy IMO. 😄

Confinement nanny able to work 3 level house

Doing confinement in a place where kitchen is level 1 and my room and the nanny’s room on level 3 with attached toilet in both rooms and with washing machine. Only cooking and washing of dishes will be level 1.

Hi mum, I think should be okay but better to check with the confinement nanny before confirming because every nanny has different comfort level and expectations. Cooking and washing only on level 1 sounds manageable to me since both rooms and laundry are upstairs, but I would just be upfront about the 3 levels so no misunderstanding later. Confinement period can already be tiring for everyone, so better to align expectations early.

Pregnancy paranoia

Hi Anyone first time pregnancy and always worried... can we go to a nearest gynae or womens clinic for a scan if worried but no reason(no bleeding no spotting)

SAME HERE xD keep trying to feel the quickening feelings but some times you just cant feel it. Then when really too paranoid ill use the fetal doppler haha! Bought one from shopee!

Im 16 weeks pregnant. Is it normal to feel like you want to shit but when i go to toilet i cannot pass motion. Is it like constipation?

is it safe to do 2nd amnio at 19 weeks? i did 1st amnio at 11 weeks but result abnormal

Hi mum, sending you a hug because this one is really not an easy decision to sit with. From what I understand, amnio is usually done later in pregnancy and around 19 weeks is still within the timing doctors may offer depending on why more testing is needed, but since you already had one earlier and got an abnormal result, I honestly wouldn’t decide based on other mums’ experiences alone. If I were in your shoes, I would ask my gynae or genetic counsellor very directly what the first result means, why they recommend a second amnio, and what information this one will change for decision making. Don’t be afraid to ask all your questions and even ask them to explain in simple language because this is a big thing and you deserve to feel clear before deciding.

Can someone hear the baby if they puts their ear against my womb at 16/17 weeks?

Some sloshing sounds heard, sometimes faster heartbeat? But not sure if it's just "hearing things"

While it is possible, it is very unlikely that you’ll be able to hear baby’s heartbeat this early without any doppler. Even so at third trimester, you have to be in a really quiet environment and focused to be able to hear baby. What you’re hearing now is probably your stomach juice and your own heartbeat. 😊
