Since I was a child, my mother had to work abroad just so I could go to school and have food to eat. But she didn’t know that I was being physically abused by my own father. That left me with deep resentment—I couldn’t understand why she left me behind. That pain stayed with me until I had a family of my own. Eventually, she came home after my father got someone else pregnant and started a new family. That’s when I finally opened up and told her everything I had gone through. There had always been distance between us, and I finally understood why. She shared her own struggles—how my father used to hurt her and fall into vices. She said she had to gather the courage to leave and work abroad, just to keep me alive.When I became a mother myself, I began to truly understand the sacrifices she made. I’m now experiencing the same—having to be away from my own child for their future. And even though we’re far apart, I want my mother to feel how deeply grateful I am for her life and everything she went through.
