Maternity Leave before EDD

I've been asked whether I will take maternity leave earlier than my EDD to rest. Just wondering among mummies, what may be the pros and cons? And is it necessary to take a rest before the delivery? Thanks!

I'm taking 3 weeks before EDD, firstly because it's really getting tiring going to work with my big tummy, and wanted to get some good rest before baby comes. Secondly it gives more buffer time in case colleagues taking over my stuff has any enquiries, at least there's still time to help clear stuff, the last thing I want is my colleagues to look for me for work stuff during my confinement.

I requested to work from home two weeks before my EDD.. and worked all the way until the night before I popped.. haha. Reason because I do not want to waste my ML when we wouldn’t know exactly when LO would arrive.. So check in with your supervisor.

You can ask for hospitalisation leave from your gynae? It will better to rest before EDD. After giving birth, no more proper rest... Even my boss tells me to rest before giving birth😂

Actually not necessary if you are still energetic. If you prefer to rest then maybe a week before Edd. Otherwise can work till the day you give birth(:

For me, i wanted to rest and slow down so i took a combination of half day leave and unpaid leave for 3 weeks before my edd.

Best is take HL first if u have. Talk to your gynae get approval!! Can save ML while u can spend more time with baby :)

Depend on individual. My 1st, I work till the last day. For current, I took my maternity leave 1 week before my EDD.

Depends on yourself..I took from week 38 to rest and some me time before baby arrives

For me I already planned on 1week before Edd but give birth 3 weeks before edd
