IUGR- small gestational age

hi I'm on my 2nd pregnancy also with IUGR, but this time round, it's detected way earlier at wk 20. anyone with similar experiences. I'm really concerned on the possible effects to my baby once he's grown. social development , potential health issues etc. Also, has anyone gotten HL due to IUGR before?

Hi there! Congratulations on your second pregnancy, though I understand it must be worrisome to find out about the IUGR diagnosis at week 20. It's great that you're reaching out for support. I've had a similar experience with IUGR during one of my pregnancies, so I can understand your concerns. Detecting it earlier can give you more time to manage and monitor the situation, which is positive. Regarding the possible effects on your baby's development and health, it's understandable to have concerns. Every case is different, and it's essential to work closely with your healthcare provider to ensure the best care for both you and your baby. Early detection allows for better management and interventions to support your baby's growth and development. In terms of potential health issues, it's crucial to stay vigilant and follow your healthcare provider's recommendations closely. They can provide personalized guidance based on your specific situation. As for social development, early interventions such as occupational therapy or developmental support programs can be beneficial if needed. Your healthcare provider can offer advice and referrals to appropriate services if required. Regarding your question about HL (hearing loss) due to IUGR, while I haven't experienced this personally, it's essential to discuss any concerns with your healthcare provider. They can provide information on potential risks and any necessary screenings or interventions to monitor your baby's hearing health. Remember, you're not alone in this journey. Reach out to friends, family, or support groups for emotional support, and don't hesitate to lean on your healthcare team for guidance and reassurance. Take care of yourself, and I wish you a smooth and healthy pregnancy journey ahead! Mama's Choice $18 voucher 👉🏻 https://invl.io/cll6she

hi Laura. Tks so much for the encouraging message. it means alot. I'm actually referring to hospitalisation leave for HL 😅

Hi! I had this for my 1st pregnancy. Early and severe IUGR diagnosed at 20 weeks. Had to deliver baby at 26 weeks as he wasnt growing well and my cord flow reversed. Stayed 5mths in NICU but otherwise in terms of developmental milestones, his language and cognitive are way ahead of his peers. Gross motor was a little slow initially since he spent a long time lying down in NICU but have caught up. Only issue as with all preemie babies is his health so he does get sick more often and easily. He’s also smaller in size (height/weight) compared to his peers but otherwise all is good. Hang in there, I know how scary this is for you.
