How do you care for your stitches after natural child birth? How long did it take to heal?

I didn't do anything special in particular as my stitches didn't hurt that much. I recovered completely after a week or two. The important thing is to keep the area clean and dry to speed up healing and minimise the risk of infection. I did change my sanitary pads frequently and have regular baths where I would clean that area gently.
