Food restrictions

Hi fellow mummies! My OB Dr told me that I can eat everything I want in moderation. That includes high grade sashimi (was told that omakase is safe) and even occasional alcohol. Anybody dared to try?

I did ask my gynae and she also said everything in moderation. Alcohol is certainly no for me. Eating sashimi will risk getting food poisoning. Even unpasteurised drinks can cause food poisoning too. I choose not to eat food that might cause food poisoning. I think just understand why some food we can't eat and we can make the wise decision for ourself and baby 😀

Alcohol strictly no, as alcohol may travel thru placenta to baby and baby’s internal organs are not developed yet to break down the harmful alcohol substances. Sashimi yes as long as it’s clean, so it doesn’t give you food poisoning. I’m sure Japanese pregnant ladies eat those everyday

Had omakase 3 times throughout my pregnancy. Definitely go to the reputable restaurants. But even then, avoid big fishes such as tuna and swordfish as they’re high in mercury content (advised by OB). It’s really fine! Japanese people consume sashimi when they’re pregnant too haha

everything in moderation Happy mummy happy baby
