Does baby led weaning mean no ‘spoonable’ foods at all? What about foods like oatmeal and yogurt?

The main idea of baby led weaning is not so much not allowing the baby to use a spoon at all, but that to encourage the baby to take what he/she wants to eat. You can try giving your baby a loaded spoon (with oatmeal) to feed himself/herself. Alternatively, you can also offer yogurt as dips to cooked vegetables or fruits for your baby. One thing to note will be to ensure that your baby is able to grasp and “gum” the food offered. Firmer fruits and vegetables should be cooked till they are relatively soft. Baby-led weaning means the baby has to feed herself. She controls what and how much goes into her mouth. I was also contemplating about this issue when I came across the Num Num Gootensil. This utensil allows children to self-feed purees and porridge easily as it does not have a rounded end on one side like a typical spoon and all they have to do is just dip into the puree and put it in their mouths. I purchased it from MumsPick at $21. http://mumspick.com/numnum/numnum-dips.html
