no help rendered from inlaw and parent

Both my inlaw and parent have already stated very clearly that they will not want to help out take care of my baby whom is arriving next month. To be frank, im so relieved. Because it gave me abundant time to think of alternatives, infant care or convert to be a SAHM. I would like to seek advise if anyone here has encountered same issue? If yes, what are your choices?

Me! My Husband n I work really long hours (10-10kind) so IFC and/or nanny is out n we don’t really wanna hire a helper cos there’s no one at home to supervise her with baby. Even though all our parents didn’t explicitly say they don’t want to help take care of our baby (both dads retired, both mums working), they didn’t offer to help either. So in the end, I quit to stay home and tc of baby myself. It’s very very tiring but extremely rewarding at the same time! I feel like the only way you can ensure that your kid is raised exactly the way how you wish for him/her to be raised is by raising him/her yourself! Sometimes we just don’t agree with other people’s way of taking care of children!

Not having meddling relatives will definitely be easier for you to make decisions. If you are currently working, shifting to be a SAHM might be a major life change. Just make sure you don’t loose who you are and the essence of you. Continue working and look at infant care, you need to have peace of mind with this decision and not feel guilty of the choice you made.

Hi, In this case I would suggest that please hire a helper who can support you while you take care of the baby. Also, discuss with your husband how you both can divide work and spend time with the baby

Super Mom

Best to hire a helper to help you to do the household chores. It is super tiring to take care of a newborn baby and doing the housework(including cooking) all by yourself.

Actually there is advantage and disadvantage either get help from elderly... Since they let u know early so u have sufficient time to plan.

SAHM if you're fine with it. Otherwise infant care, at least they will learn stuff in school when they're older(:

It’s your preference. If single income suffice, be a SAHM. If not, you’ll have to weigh your options

Same. Both sides parents seems reluctant to help. I will put infant care and ask for flexi hours at work.

👍

Hire a helper or put in IFC before thinking about whether you would like to be SAHM or FTWM

Same here. I am still under considering either hire helper or infant care
