Anyone experience seeing amniotic band during their scan?? Currently 21weeks

Just did my 21weeks review, during my scan, doctor discovered this amniotic band in me. Doctor says as long as baby doesn’t go and play with it and get tangled around it, shouldn’t be a problem. Feeling very worried, first time mum. Anyone else experience this too.

Oh dear, first of all, sending you a big hug, it is totally understandable to feel worried, especially as a first-time mum! A few of us in my mum circle have heard of amniotic bands being spotted on scans, and the good news is that many babies whose mums had this detected early went on to be born completely fine, as long as the bands stayed away from the limbs and cord. Someone in my mum group did mention a case where the bands unfortunately did affect the baby's hand, so the outcome really does depend on where the bands are positioned and whether baby gets entangled, which is exactly why your doctor will monitor you closely with more frequent scans going forward. The most important thing right now is to keep up with all your follow-up appointments and not skip any scans, so the doctor can catch any changes early. That said, every pregnancy is different, so do have a detailed chat with your gynae or a specialist about your specific situation, they will be the best person to guide you through this.

Lack of vitamin D and cmv detected in blood test.

13 weeks and just received a call from clinic informing that my blood test results shows that i have lack of Vitamin D and i was advised to purchase Vitamin D3 at pharmacy. Obgyn also said that cmv detected in the blood and will need to send for further cmv test. Im so worried 😢😭

Oh dear, please don't worry too much, I know it's scary to get that kind of call, especially at 13 weeks! A few of us in my mum circle have been through similar situations, and one thing we all learned is that the CMV blood result needs a follow-up test to check whether it's a past infection or a current active one, because that makes a big difference in terms of what action your doctor will take next. For the Vitamin D, just start on the D3 your doctor recommended, it's not just for bones, it actually supports your immune system too during pregnancy, so getting those levels up is genuinely important. My friend went through a CMV scare around the same stage and she said her specialist monitored her closely with additional scans, and things turned out well, so do ask your OB about what monitoring plan they have for you going forward. Please do bring all your concerns to your specialist at your next appointment though, since every case is really different and they will be able to give you the clearest picture based on your specific results. Hi can any mummy share roughly wat was the estimated cost for c sec at mount e novena .. Appreciate it

From what a few of us have heard around our mum circle, a planned C-section at Mount Elizabeth Novena generally runs somewhere between $18,000 to $26,000 all in, the range is quite wide because doctor's fees and your choice of room can push the total up quite a bit. My neighbour delivered there and she mentioned her final bill came to around $25,000 for an elective C-section with a two to three night stay, which lined up with what others in our group had shared. Most mums said Medisave helps to offset a portion, but do make sure you have enough cash savings on top of that since private hospital costs can catch you off guard. It's really worth going for a pre-delivery consultation with your chosen OB first so they can give you a clearer estimate based on your specific situation and room preference.

Baby delivery with g a c sec

Hi, anyone have baby delivery with G A c sec for first baby delivery and 2nd baby delivery with regional c sec? Why you didn’t choose g a for second one or why do you choose regional c sec for 2nd baby delivery? is regional c sec more painful than g a c sec or was it fine? And how long do you wait before getting pregnant again

I totally understand why you have so many questions about this, it can feel really overwhelming trying to decide between the two options for your second delivery. I had my first under GA as well and for my second I chose regional so I could actually be awake to see my baby born, and honestly the recovery felt quite similar for me. The regional was not as scary as I thought it would be, the team at the hospital was really reassuring throughout the whole thing. For the gap between pregnancies, it might be good to check with your gynae or the doctor who did your first csec, as they will advise you based on how your scar healed and your own body lah.

Prenatal Chiropractic

Any preg mom tried Prenatal Chiropractic before? wanna try but scare, any place can intro? #prenatalchiro #1stimemom #2ndtrimester

It is totally normal to feel nervous about trying something new during pregnancy, so you are not alone in that feeling. My friend tried prenatal chiropractic during her second trimester and she said the sessions were quite gentle and she felt a lot of relief from her back aches lah. She mentioned the chiropractor used a special pregnancy pillow so she could lie comfortably without any pressure on her tummy. Maybe ask your gynae first just to get the all-clear before you book, and look for a chiropractor who is specifically trained in prenatal care so you feel safer going in.

Thalassemia blood lab results

Have you done it yet? The annetal blood tests etc.. I did mine on 6 june but till now the lab report is not updated in my healthhub. My hub did the same blood test for thalassaemia.. and he already gotten the lab results last week. Why mine taking so long? They did say if any issues will call me in a week. Alr a week liao. which of course i guess is no news is good news. But why cant see the lab report updated in health hub??? Anyone have same experience?

The waiting and not seeing the results on HealthHub can feel really unsettling, but you are definitely not the only one who has gone through this. From what I know, sometimes the clinic or lab takes a bit longer to upload certain prenatal results compared to a regular blood test, and your husband's results showing up faster could just be because his was a different type of panel processed separately. Since they did say they would call within a week if there were concerns and you have not heard anything, that really does sound like good news lah, but if it gives you peace of mind, just call the clinic directly to ask them to confirm the upload status.

Hi, can any Moms who delivered recently at TMC in June 2022 share the COVID protocol for admission?

Is ART testing needed for admission at Thomson Medical Centre (TMC)?

I totally understand the worry, especially when you're already managing so much in the final stretch of pregnancy. I'm not sure of the exact current protocol at TMC for June 2022 as things have been changing quite frequently, so it's best to call their Labour Ward directly to confirm lah, as they will have the most accurate and up to date info. Hopefully another mum who just delivered there can share their experience here too!

A Year Gap Pregnancy

Hi mommies , im currently have a 4months+ baby & im pregnant again . Wondering if there is any product or tips for me to gain energy during this time … as i need to look after my 4 mnths old too at the same time but feeling fatigue.

Oh mama, you are really not alone in this, so many mums here have gone through the same exhausting stretch and come out the other side just fine. Please do let your gynae or PD know about the fatigue so they can check your iron and make sure both you and baby are getting the right support. In the meantime, try to rest whenever your 4-month-old naps, and do not feel guilty asking your husband or family to take over even for a short while. You are already doing so much, so be kind to yourself during this season.

Hi mummies, I recently changed gynae to Dr Ada and she seems really nice. I was thinking to request for hospital leave before I give birth as my work has been very stressful and labour intensive. Mummies with her before, have you made such requests and if so does she entertain/allow? Thanks alot in advance.

I haven't personally seen Dr Ada but a friend of mine did and she said Dr Ada was very understanding and really listened to her concerns without rushing the consultation. I think most gynae at KKH are quite supportive about hospital leave especially if your job is physically demanding, so it is definitely worth just having an honest chat with her about how you are feeling and what your work is like. You are not the only one who has needed that kind of support, so don't worry about asking lah.

Hi mummies, do you guys have any confinement nanny reccomendations? What questions to ask?

Finding a good confinement nanny can feel really overwhelming especially when it is your first time, so you are definitely not alone in this. I would say ask about their experience with newborns specifically, whether they can handle night feeds, and what confinement foods they can prepare. It is also good to check their references from past families and clarify upfront if they stay in or come daily, as that changes things quite a bit. Trust your gut during the "interview" too, because you will be spending a whole month with this person lah, so the vibe really matters.
