Mummy with severe allergy - hives

I have been having allergies even before pregnant and can only be controlled with medication as cream doesn’t help. Usually take zyrtec which has cetirizine dihydrochloride. During pregnancy I tried not to take any medication but the allergy is so bad that it spreads to the whole body including face even without me scratching it and I have sleepless nights due to this. To sleep peacefully I have no choice but to take the medication which I have also consulted gynae Which they said it’s fine to take. But was wondering will there be any complication if taken on daily basis since the allergy will flare up mostly on daily basis and won’t go away until medication is taken? Worry that it will affect baby and I’m only in my 2nd trimester & still have months to go..

I consulted a specialist before, he said the the safest antihistamine is chlorpheniramine :)

I'm actually thinking of getting this to do some exercise at home (partly to relieve my limbs aching also). But I don't know whether this is suitable or not. I need advice. #pleasehelp #advicepls #firsttimemom #firstbaby

Worried. Baby is larger than normal despite me trying hard to control my diet

Im not overweight, no GD, no preeclampsia. At 26 weeks, my baby was 1kg. 31 weeks baby was 2kg (1kg in 5 weeks), larger than average at 75 percentile. Doctor says baby weight is still considered ok, as long as I still ate healthy and dont over eat should be fine. But the problem is, I was still throwing up like crazy, and ate close to nothing, and I gained no weight from 26 to 31 weeks (at first i was very worried baby will be underweight... how is it that my baby has gained so much instead?). I told the doctor this, and he said the baby will take whatever he needs from me (no matter whether I ate or not? - so i was thinking omg if i were able to eat more will my baby be even larger?! 😩). Last I checked at 35 weeks, baby is already 3kg. Still ate as per normal, but this time less throwing up. Been eating quite healthily, like salads, cooked sushi, fish soup, YTF etc, less carbs, less fried, less oily less sweet stuff and sometimes i only ate 2 tiny meals a day but baby still grew quite a bit (1kg in 4 weeks)! It has been a little more than a week now after my last checkup and I feel my tummy seemed to have increase in size quite a lot. (More than usual). Could be more amniotic fluid, also could be my baby grew v fast again. I am worried. At this pace, baby might exceed 3.5kg or possibly 4kg when I give birth. 😩 And I believe I am quite petite, so I am afraid it may be v difficult for me. (Currently 154, 50kg at 36+ weeks). Doctor adviced me to do some pelvic exercises to stretch my pelvis. He says since I am quite petite, he says he wouldnt wait too long for the birth and he will look at inducing if there's still no sign of labour at 38 weeks as it would harder for me if the baby grows too large (tho im afraid baby may already be v large at 38 weeks). But I have heard that inducing can be very long and also painful, and if it fails and baby is distressed, still need to have emergency c section too... Feeling very worried.

I believe sometimes its the genes that made baby still grow big despite not eating much.

Loperamide safe for pregnancy?

Anyone knows if loperamide (for diarrhea) is safe for pregnancy? Currently 37 weeks and always having stomach ache, loose stool and always pooping, no matter what i eat. #FTM

Please go see your doctor or gynae before taking anything, since at 37 weeks even something that seems minor needs proper medical clearance first. Medication safety in pregnancy really depends on your individual situation, so your doctor is the best person to weigh the risks and benefits and advise you properly.

Breast milk storage method

Do we store our breast milk in freezer or jus the normal cold compartment? Is it really better to buy a separate small fridge jus to store breast milk or our home fridge is ok too?

It depends on your supply. For me I don’t have to freeze them, my baby is always drink bm produced within 24 hours so I simply stored them in the fridge.

Food or drinks to help with nausea/vomiting. Poor appetite in the first trimester.

I am currently 8 weeks. Almost everyday I have a combination of headache, nausea and vomiting. Some days it really gets to me and I feel defeated. I am trying to do a list of food/drinks that can help me combat nausea or ideas of meals I can eat, my appetite is really poor. I also have this bitter taste in my tongue which makes drinking plain water/eating a task. Would appreciate any advice and tips on what works for you. May I also check if I can take panadol with my morning sickness pill (metoclopramide/diclectin) on days I have both a headache and nausea?

I had some lemon water whenever I feel nausea/bloated, and it makes me feel so much better. Maybe you can try it too :) jiayou!!

Safe sex postpartum

How do you practice safe sex post partum if youre not planning to have a baby so soon. Is it always condom ? Or anyone still do sex normally on non ovulation days ? I dont intend to go on birth control due to the side effects be it short term or long term #FTM

Yup I also didn't want to mess up my body with pills or anything else. I have friends who had bad side effects like very bad acne and excessive weight gain. So I decided with my hubby to only use condoms but was very careful to only do the deed during non-ovulation days. Tt said, I was only ready to start having sex 6 months postpartum. That was also the time when my milk supply dropped due to work so I stopped breastfeeding and I started getting my period too. Managed to stay safe for 1.5 years by just using condoms, then we decided to use the pull out method during non-ovulation days cz we were at a pt where we were still not sure if we're ready for a 2nd one but we're still okay to accept if we conceive. I did conceive but unfortunately had an early miscarriage. Only aft my firstborn turned 2 years old tt we started actively trying, using ovulation kit and for me to start eating my folic acid and have a healthier diet. Conceived within 3 months from then on and now pregnant with my 2nd.

Breastpump to hospital

If im planning to bring my breastpump to hospital, can i just wash & sanitize my breastpump 2 weeks before edd & put it in a new ziplock bag and bring it? Will i be able to use straightaway from the ziplock ? In the event i need to use in hosp. And yes i know hosp will encourage latching but just bringing in case. #FTM

I brought my pump but didn’t use it in the end. I think there’s no need to bring as baby will just direct latch and there won’t be much milk to pump out during the first few days after birth. Can just do hand express if anything. My milk only came in around day 3 and by day 4 I was already discharged hahaha.
