Anyone else ever feel insecure around your husband?

Are there any mums here who sometimes feel insecure when it comes to their husband? For example, in my case, my husband works while I stay at home. I chose to be a stay-at-home mum after we got married, and my husband has always supported that decision fully. But after a few years, I started to feel like we were growing into different people. His social circle is getting wider (I understand, it’s part of his job), and he rarely shares things with me anymore. Maybe he feels like I won’t be able to relate. We’ve talked about this before, and he once said, “I don’t want to burden you with my stories anymore, because I know you’re already carrying a lot at home.” And he’s right, I do manage the kids, the house, everything... But to be honest, my mother-in-law also gets to me. She often makes snide remarks, like telling me not to spend money so easily, saying my husband works so hard. She even questions why I’m not working. I’m so frustrated—why is she always interfering in my life?

Your feelings are valid. My friend is a SAHM as well and her husband will always support and side her if anyone gave nasty and sensitive remarks. She eventually goes back to the working society since her daughter is already in school and prefers earning her own money to get the things she wants. Perhaps you can consider going back to work or have a part time flexible job? Do have a heart to heart talk with your husband on how you feel. Sit down and pour it out. His support and encouragement towards you are very important. Good luck!
