my baby became too clingy all of a sudden and cries out loud whenever my wife puts her on mat. Why is that?

How many words should a 17 month old boy say at that age? My baby can only say a few words like papa, mama, bird, etc. My daughter was talking much more at that age.

My baby is 16 months and these are the words she can say: Dog Hi Up Bubble Duck More Milk No Mama Papa Nana (grandpa) Nani (grandma) Yaya (helper)

When can we take baby out the first time?

There is really no specific guideline on when you can bring your newborn out. Most propose that once your baby is out of the hospital, it is fine to bring him/her out if you feel up to it. The only thing to note would be to avoid large, crowded, enclosed places with poor ventilation. For such places, it will be good to wait till your baby is six to eight weeks, when her immune system is better developed. These places increase her exposure to airborne germs that could be dangerous for her immature immune system. Bringing her out for walks in the parks will be great. The fresh air and sunlight would do you and your baby good! :)

My baby's teeth are taking forever to emerge and she is already 1! Are there any other mummies whose babies are late teethers?

Yes! My older son's first tooth popped out when he was 13 months old. Don't worry - those pearlie whites will pop out soon :)

Do you have to brush baby's gums even if their teeth haven't emerged yet?

I do not brush their gums as I afraid that it will irritate the gums. I just use boiled water and wash cloth to clean his mouth, tongue and gums. Even till now his first tooth had emerged I'm still using wash cloth to clean.

Did anyone experienced importing milk from overseas just to get the brand that you promised your child to give?

Same as the mummy above, I also prefer products that are already available locally and not even those important ones by some of the small shops. (even though they sell at 30% cheaper than retail)

How will I know whether my new born baby Is Jaundiced?

Usually before your baby gets discharged, he would already have been tested for jaundice. If it's high, he would be required to stay extra nights at the hospital to get treatment. In some cases, baby is allowed to be discharged with mummy but will have to go back to either the Polyclinic or hospital for blood test to monitor the jaundice levels. This test is reeated every 2.3 days until the jaundice level drops. Otherwise as Reine as mentioned, your baby's skin will appear yellowish.
