Hi Breastfeeding mummies, any food that you avoid during breastfeeding? My mum disallows me to have spicy food, bread (due to containing yeast), yellow noodles, white vegetables like cabbage (due to cooling). Any advise?

my lo is 7mths nw. when he nurses, he likes to stick his thumb or fingers into his mouth to suck at the same time. i feel he sucks air in at the same time. the main thing is this hurts my nipple n i would pull his hand away. but he does this repeatedly at intervals. is this common? does it mean he does not want to nurse? any advice?

Is he teething? If he is, that probably the gums are feeling uncomfortable. Do get him teething toys or teething necklace might help. It's a phrase it probably will get over soon. Hang in there mommy.

They say that you can't overfeed a breastfed baby. But my 4-month old always drinks everything I have to offer then spits out excess milk the moment she unlatches (milk literally dribbles out the corner of her mouth). How do I help her learn not to overeat? P.S. She's in the 90 percentile for weight and 50 percentile for height.

Ah that's very helpful to know. Yes she has been seeing the pd for reflux since she was 7w old. And we're hoping her weight gain slows when she starts to crawl!

How do you wash your nursing bras? Do you remove the paddings as well? i tried removing the paddings and wash bra & padding seperatly & also tried washing the bra with padding intact, both methods still seemed to spoil the padding. My padding ends up out of shape. i do put them in laundry bags, and padding in bra laundry bags.

Oh yes, padding really cannot last if we put in washing machine. So..nowadays i will take the padding out and handwash it. No more out of shape problem. But still will worn out eventually after a lengthy of time.

I found mold in my valves of my breastpump. I'm not sure for how long this has been going on. I wash with hot soapy water. I'm scared my 6 months old baby drank milk that touched the mold. she now has a cough and runny nose for about 2 days. is it because of the ebm? what should I do? does she have an infection? I feel so bad. I'm going to throw out all my milk.

If you speak to the manufacturer, they should be able to tell you where to get new valves from, or even provide them.

Do you wash your breastpump parts EVERY single time after pumping session while at work? Or just rinse with hot water? I find washing breastpump parts very time consuming, and there isn't any proper place for me to dry them.

Just rinse with water will do. After rinsing, put it inside a ziplock bag. Do not need to dry it.

hi mummies, i have a recurring blocked duct. i tried massaging and squeezing my areola and realized that one of the pores' discharge is in clear colour whereas the other pores are milky colour. is it because of my blocked duct? I also had another 'blocked duct' that felt like a tiny stone, but previously ML said its my vein. is it possible that vein felt like tiny stone? TIA!

It's a plugged duct, the tiny stone might be grain of thickened milk or fatty-looking milk. You can try using heat & gentle massage before nursing- - Warm compress. Try using a disposable diaper: fill the diaper with hot water (try the temperature on your wrist first to avoid burns), squeeze the diaper out a bit, then put the inside of the diaper toward the breast. This will stay warm much longer than a wet cloth. - Basin soak. Fill sink or bowl with hot water and submerge breast in water while massaging the plugged area toward the nipple. - Hot Shower. It can be helpful to massage in the shower with a large-toothed comb. The comb should be drawn through a bar of soap until it is very soapy and then used to gently massage over the affected area in the direction of the nipple. Nurse frequently & empty the breasts thoroughly.Aim for nursing at least every 2 hrs. Keep the affected breast as empty as possible, but don’t neglect the other breast. When unable to breastfeed, mom should express milk frequently and thoroughly (with a breast pump or by hand). Hope the blocked ducts will clear soon!

What is the diet need to be folowed to increase mother feeding supply..

U mean increase breastmilk? I took in a lot of liquid; hot soup, juices, hot water. Other than that, I ate a lot of fish like codfish, threadfin and salmon n veg like broccoli n spinach. Other than that, I pump every 2 hourly. My yield was v good.
