Hi all, my LO is 3 mths old and due to shallow latch, nipple confusion and slow flow, I've started exclusively expressing milk and feeding her through milk bottle 1.5 mths back. However, few weeks back, I've been getting recurrent blocked ducts. I've tried all methods suggested including hot compresses, getting help from LC, engorgement massage ladies etc...it'd clear for a day or 2 and then come back again. One of the massage ladies mentioned that I'm not clearing my milk properly hence the repeated blk ducts and recommended me to use spectra S1. I'm not sure if I should still invest in another pump (personally I feel that I might not react well to pumps as I can only pump out abt 60ml and hand express out another 60 ml usually) so I've switched to doing full hand expression...however it seems like it isn't sustainable solution due to the recurrent blk ducts. Any mums experienced similar situation? Would changing of pumps really help? Any other solutions? P.s she also mentioned that it doesn't look like a milk thickness problem hence I've ruled out taking lecithin as a solution. Many thanks in advance mums!
on what reasons would you stop breastfeeding? if supply dropped and not increasing but maintained at 2oz in total for a pump but baby intake has reached 5oz per feed, and tried booster, does it means drying up or/and should stop soon?
My thawed breastmilk tastes horrible - not sour or spoilt yet, just horrible. I read that some BF moms have issues with overactivity of lipase (an enzyme which breaks down fats) which causes faster decomposition. Anyone here has similar issue? My baby is not rejecting but I feel guilty for feeding him horrible stuff,
Breastfeeding mummies...how to squeeze in pumping session(s) if I direct-latched my baby on demand?? Need to increase my frozen EBM stock at home in case I need to be out running errands...
My LO has been having hiccups the past two days. Have tried different feeding positions, but it just kept coming back. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Hi all, I'm a fully DL mum and my hubby helps with bottle feeding once a week. I'm now doing some research in prep for introducing solids. We're now using the medela calma teats for bottle feeding. Will it be ok if we gave him water with the same bottle when we start solids? TIA!
Any breastfeeding mums to share their experience here?
My menses resumed yesterday and I am 4 months postpartum. For my firstborn, I was exclusively pumping and my menses came back only 8 months later. I was able to pump till LO was 1 years old. I am pumping and latching this time round. Does it mean my breastfeeding journey is ending soon?
I am currently breastfeeding and I realized that breast is bigger than the other. The difference is very obvious to the extend I can't wear normal clothings. Help!
Hi, my daughter is 3 mths, fully breastfed. Today, I went to polyclinic to check her 3 mths assessment. All are ok except her weight. Given that she is 3 mths, her weight is 5.1kg. The nurse said that she is like 10% percentile some sort like that. The nurse said that might be she is tall. The doctor said that I might have to feed her more. I told her my baby is always at my breast and drink. She will either drink or playing with my breast. So far she is ok. I am just wondered is my breastmilk not enough? Or should I feed her with formula milk? I try to feed her with formula milk and she do not like the bottle teats. I try to relax her to drink also can't. She is used to my breasts and mostly she is direct latch to drink. Any opinion mummies? I am really worried about her weight.
