My #1 boy weighs 4.5kg when he was 3months. He continues to stay at 3-10 percentile till he reaches 12 months and move above 10 percentile. He was on total bf and no fm. We too were very concerned, and spoke to few doctors. Many has reassured us that it may be due to genes as both my husband and I were smaller babies back then. My baby also takes smaller and freq feeds. So long your baby is happy, wet enough diapers and meets her milestone, there isnt much to worry about. i know its stressful when others baby are always more chubby and bigger. you just need to stay focus... they will just grow up fine. stay calm and keep latching! cheers.
Read moreMy daughter had been at the lower side for an entire year and then moved on to the average range. My pediatrician was not worried. Reasons -- 1) my daughter was born small and was right on her curve throughout, 2) my mother and I are both small statured, and my baby's weight was okay according to that, 3) my pediatrician said Indian babies are usually not that plump as kids elsewhere in the world, especially those on the curve. The takeaway was to monitor her growth on the curve she started on instead of comparing her on a relative scale.
Read moreMy girl is also consider petite in fact she was about 4.7kg when she was slightly over 3mo, partly coz its genetic related. I was worried like you but my pd assured me that she is growing well and it is normal that bf babies tend to gain weight slower than fm babies. We can force them to drink if they don't wish to, we might create a negative effect in the end. As long as she has enough diaper output a day and still active, we should be glad that we are doing a great job! Just follow our babies cues and I'm glad that we have a very encouraging pd
Read moreI won't be v worried. My gal was also v small when she was young. Dr advised more 'meals' but as I was bf, I don really know how much she drank. Also, she was a small drinker n tend to feed more times. Each assessment checks were the same reviews but now, she is coming 5, she is growing v well despite having not growing more like what we wanted. When she was 4 to 5 mths, her weight did increase coz she was on semi solid so not to worry. Ur baby is doing well n just trust ur instinct as a mum.
Read moreHi! What was your daughter's birth weight? I do agree with the other moms here. As long as your daughter is feeding well, does not cry after feeding (crying may be a sign that you don't have enough milk for her growing demand), following the appropriate developmental milestone for her age, then you shouldn't be too worried.
Read moreJust wait another 3 months and start feeding her more solid instead:) Intro her more natural fats food like Avocado. When you start pan fried food use VCO to cook them instead. VCO has a good amount of natural fats too. Weight is not much of a concern, unless she is not gaining weight at all than it's a concern.
