I had flat nipples so couldn't breastfeed my first baby. Now i'm pregnant with my second and wondering if there's anything i can do to prepare for breastfeeding and overcome this issue? Thanks in advance!

Flat nipples - how to breastfeed?

Hello mummies! I just delivered bb couple of days ago, and different nurses have been telling me that i cant latch bb well and he doesn't want to suckle because i have flat nipples. This is quite discouraging. Bb has been so sleepy and refuses to latch – he rather sleep and hasnt been drinking formula milk much too. Anyone with similar experiences and tips? Thanks in advance!

That must be such a worrying time for you, and you are definitely not alone in feeling anxious about this. I know a few mums who have gone through similar scares with their little ones and it can feel very overwhelming. It would be good to follow up closely with your PD or the specialist at KKH, just to make sure your baby is being monitored properly. They will guide you on what to watch for and what the next steps are, so try to take it one appointment at a time.

I really feel you on this, finding time to pump while managing everything else is so tough. Bringing Colostrum to Hospital

Anyone brought colostrum harvested from W37 to the hospital? How much did y’all bring?

A few of us in my mum group did this and honestly it was such a good move, most started harvesting around 36 to 37 weeks and brought the syringes in a small cooler bag to the hospital, labelled with the date. One mum friend managed to collect about 70ml by the time she went in for her induction at 37 weeks, which I thought was really impressive, though most of us got much smaller amounts and that is perfectly fine too. The hospital staff here are generally quite used to receiving colostrum syringes, so just let your midwife or nurse know when you arrive and they will store it properly for you. I would say just bring whatever you have, even a few syringes of a couple of ml each is worth it, because every drop counts especially in those first hours when baby needs it most.

Growth spurt or terrible 2

Hihi,baby now 20months starts cry murder when give milk late,last time when young growth spurt will behave this way. After that ok. Recently starts again,wondering isit growth spurt or reaching terrible 2? Carry he will push n don wan. But he still wants me stay close to him. Can cry till 10mins plus then stop

20 months is such a confusing stage because growth spurts and the start of terrible twos can honestly look so similar. My girl went through the same thing around that age, wanting me close but pushing me away at the same time, and it turned out to be a bit of both happening together. The crying it out for 10 minutes then calming down on his own sounds like he is also starting to learn to self-regulate, which is actually a good sign lah. Just keep your routine consistent with milk timings so he is not caught off guard by hunger, and hang in there because this phase does pass.

just decided to see if I can get my baby express pumps serviced. I searched and realised their website has been taken down and their social media is nowhere to be found. anybody know what happened?

How do you manage the logistics for traveling on 8hrs to Sydney when you are pumping exclusively (perhaps need to pump at least once) and baby takes only ebm? Is beast milk allowed on hand carry at Australian custom?
