Me and my husband wanted a girl. The gender was boy. How do I cope with this mixed feelings?

It is totally normal and okay to feel like this, don't worry. Gender disappointment is a real thing one, and acknowledging your mixed feelings is the first step to process everything. Give yourself some time to think, but don't feel guilty, your love for your son will naturally grow once you get ready to meet him. Many parents also feel the same way at first, but later they find comfort seeing how loving a boy can be, or they just let go of expectations and take it day by day. Don't stress so much sis, you are not alone in this!

Post natal massage and binding

Hello mummies! Any recommendation for postal natal massage and binding? Is it useful or consider mandatory after birth?

It's definitely not mandatory, but many mums enjoy postnatal massage because it helps them relax and eases some of the aches and muscle tension after delivery. 😊 For binding, it's more of a personal preference. It won't make weight come off faster, but some mums find the extra abdominal and back support helpful, especially in the first few weeks postpartum or after a C-section. I used a binder after my pregnancies - CS mum here. If you've had a CS, do check with your doctor first, and stop if it feels uncomfortable. I'd consider both a nice bonus rather than a must-have for recovery ❤️

Reccomendation for breast pump

Hello! I am FTM at week 18 pregnant. Any recommendation for breast pump, thinking to get one which can use at home and outside (when back to office)instead of getting 2.

I'd recommend the Spectra S1 Plus — it's super popular among Singapore mamas, has a built-in rechargeable battery so you can use it at home and office, and the suction is really good for milk supply! If budget allows, the Elvie wearable pump is amazing for office use since it fits in your bra and is totally silent.

She's a consultant in the Paediatric Neurology department, so a lot of us bring our children to her if there are any concerns about development or neurological issues. Recommendation for Day Time Confinement Nanny

Hello mummies! any recommendation for day time confinement nanny? Many agencies enquired do no provide such services.

I think can find, just that not many agencies offer daytime only, most are live-in. Maybe you can try asking around or through recommendations, some nannies do part-time/daytime but not always listed under agencies. Hope you manage to find one! 🙏

Received a call from hospital, I was told my blood test results for FTS is 1/396, considered intermittent risk. What should I do now? I’m 39 this year. I did my NIPT test at the same time but result will only be out in 2 weeks time. Anyone has similar experience to share?

Hi, sending you a big hug first because that waiting period between getting a result and knowing what to do next is genuinely one of the most anxious times in pregnancy. You are not alone in this. A FTS result of 1/396 sits in the intermediate risk category, which means it's not high risk (typically considered 1/250 and above) but it's also not the low risk result we all hope for. The fact that you already did NIPT at the same time was honestly the right call and the most important thing you can do right now is wait for that result before making any further decisions. NIPT is much more accurate than the FTS blood markers alone because it looks directly at fetal DNA in your blood. A reassuring NIPT result would give you a lot more peace of mind even with the FTS number you received. A few things worth knowing while you wait: Being 39 does mean your age-related baseline risk is slightly higher, which is why doctors flag intermediate results more carefully for mummies in that age group. It doesn't mean something is wrong, it just means they want to be thorough and so do you. If your NIPT comes back with any concerns, your OB will likely refer you for amniocentesis which gives a definitive answer. That conversation can happen when and if you need it. In the meantime, be kind to yourself. Try not to spiral too deep into the numbers. So many mummies have had similar FTS results and gone on to have perfectly healthy babies, and the NIPT is very likely to give you clarity and reassurance.
