sourish taste bud

any mummies here experiencing sourish/metallic taste bud after meals or even after eating fruits? how do yall overcome it?

I have this metallic taste since week 5/6, and still ongoing. I have learnt to accept it as it is, and just eat for survival lol. Bland food helps me to have lesser expectations on food taste since I can’t fully enjoy food anymore with this metallic taste and extreme food aversions

First time mummy here, aldy went for first scan at kkh via poly referral. ive heard alot of scary birth stories at KKH and was wondering if SGH is better? And how to go about transferring? Any advice on which path i should go?

actually depends on the nurse or doctor that treat you. if you get a good one it good.

Constipation at 11 weeks

What’s the normal frequency of pooping in pregnancy? I have been popping once every 3-5 days and the tummy hurts in between… colicky ++

I’m experiencing this too! I spoke with my gynae and 3-5 days is an indication it’s constipation, so it’s best to be able to clear every 1-2 days. Increasing fibre and increasing water intake both don’t work for me. Former no effect, and latter too bloated and water taste horrible. I’m trying prune juice and it works. Also consult your gynae cause they can prescribe some stuffs to soften your stool and enable you to pass motion more. I’ll be trying that next.

I ended up postponing my professional exam because first trimester is so rough for me and I’m just trying to survive lol. Completely not feasible for moms who have rough first trimester, so I would strongly recommend not committing to one until after pregnancy.

Feeling Lethargic

This is my 3rd pregnancy and it is different from the rest. I felt more lethargic and I just want to sleep. Feeling nausea and no appetite to eat at all. I dont feel like talking too. Do anyone else the same?

💯 resonate. I’m also feeling bloated all day, have a metallic taste in my mouth, super tired and just really trying to survive especially with work commitments…

Is there anyone staying with mother in law here? I believe there is a few. Does she talk discouraging words or reactions like it is a joke when you feel like vomiting or feel unwell when you are pregnant. I am feeling so stress up.

I hear you, this must be really tough especially when you're already dealing with pregnancy symptoms. Some MILs don't quite get how physically draining pregnancy is and brush it off, but your feelings are completely valid and what you're going through is real. It might help to have a calm chat with your husband first so he understands how her comments are affecting you, then maybe he can gently talk to her about being more supportive during this time. In the meantime, try to lean on friends or your own mum who do understand what you're going through, because you deserve that support right now. Hang in there.

Can I give birth at NUH?

Hi Mummies. Can I give birth at NUH even if all my gynae appt is in KKH?

I don't think you can switch over like that, because your medical records and all your antenatal care are already with KKH, so it'll be messy to transfer everything to NUH at delivery. Best to just confirm directly with your KKH gynae or the hospital admin what the process is, but usually you deliver where you've been seeing your doctor throughout pregnancy. My friend tried to do something similar and it got complicated, so might save you the hassle just to stick with KKH.

Hi, heard bird's nest is good to start from 2nd Tri. Any other tonics recommendations to also take? Thanks in advance!

Bad headache week 10

Constant headaches

Headaches at 10 weeks can be pretty rough, and honestly it could be anything from hormones to dehydration to tension, especially if you're stressed or not sleeping well. Might be good to bring it up with your gynae or PD at your next visit just to rule out anything, and in the meantime try drinking more water and getting proper rest if you can. Hope it eases up soon for you.
