Pregnancy belly clothings!!

Hello mamas-to-be or mamas!! Would like to check where do you guys usually buy maternity clothings in singapore 😃 and is shein clothes generally not recommended due to many chemicals etc too? 🫪

I mostly grabbed mine from Mothercare and Cotton On Maternity back when I was pregnant, and they held up really well through both trimesters. For Shein, I'd be a bit cautious lah - not just the chemical thing, but the sizing runs really small and the fabric quality can be hit or miss, so you might end up wasting money on returns. A lot of mums I know just wore their husband's oversized shirts and stretchy pants from Uniqlo or H&M Mama range, honestly cheaper and more comfortable than buying a whole maternity wardrobe.

14w+ safe to do hair treatments?

Currently feeling very insecure due to my recent haircut gone wrong. Would like to check is it safe to do any hair treatment for straightening at this stage of pregnancy? 😥 P.s. my belly feels like its already big like 5-6 mths belly altho I’m barely 3 mths… is something wrong :’(

hi babe!! i usually do keratin treatments but i stopped doing them and opted for a normal moisture treatment instead! theres a risk for formaldehyde and other harmful chemicals exposure when you do keratin

First pregnancy, blur mum 🤰😂

Hi mummies! 😊 This is my first pregnancy, and I’m currently 17 weeks pregnant. I’ve noticed that many mums seem to be taking various supplements throughout their pregnancy. My gynae hasn’t mentioned anything apart from folic acid, so that’s the only supplement I’ve been taking so far. Is that normal? Are there any other supplements that are considered essential or recommended during pregnancy? Just wondering what everyone else is taking. Thanks in advance! ❤️

Which gynae did u go to..? My gynae similar to all the ppl around me actually said from 12 weeks advised to take multivitamin (incl iron n folic acid) & calcium tablets & fish oil. These are essential for bone development supplement. Do double check if it is needed.

Heart rate during pregnancy

Hi mommies can share what is your usual resting and walking heart rate range pls? Just for assurance cos mine has increased eversince I got pregnant. I’m only 4-5 weeks.

My normal was 60s before pregnant and now its like 70s-90s during normal time (relaxed)

Frequent farting

Helo mummies! Im in my 13 wks pregnant. For the past few weeks ive been farting alot and i dont feel any bloatedness..any mummy experienced this before? But it was a gd released of gas. No foul smell etc. 😊😊

Yes! I had this during my first trimester too 😅 My OB said it's quite common because pregnancy hormones slow down digestion, so you tend to pass more gas. As long as there's no severe pain, diarrhoea or bleeding, it's usually nothing to worry about. It got better for me after a while!

NUH Gynae Recommendations

Hi all, does anyone have any gynae recommendations in NUH? Also, feel free to share your experience if any. I.e at how may weeks did you decide to change to private route etc.

I went with the public route till about 32 weeks with my first at KKH, then switched to a private gynae because I wanted more flexibility with appointment timings and delivery arrangements. It really depends on what matters most to you lah - if you're happy with the public system, the doctors there are very good, but if you want more personalised care and shorter wait times, going private earlier might be worth it. A few of my mum friends switched around 28-30 weeks when they started feeling more anxious about delivery, while others stuck it out the whole way. What's prompting you to think about changing?

Did anyone dye their hair In pregnancy?

I didn't dye mine during pregnancy because I was quite paranoid, but a few of my mum friends did and their babies turned out perfectly fine, so I think most doctors say it's okay if you do it in the second or third trimester. If you're worried, might be good to just check with your gynae to be safe, especially since pregnancy hormones can sometimes affect how the dye takes anyway. Just make sure the salon has good ventilation lah.

Baby gender at 14 weeks

Hi, at 14 weeks, will we be able to know the gender?

At 14 weeks it's still quite early, but some places can give you an indication if the baby is positioned well and your sonographer is experienced. My girl's gender was confirmed at 16 weeks, and even then the radiographer said positioning matters a lot. If you're keen to find out, you can ask at your next scan whether they can tell, but don't be too disappointed if they say to come back in a couple of weeks when it's clearer.

FTS risk intermediate 1/888

Hi Mummies, I cant sleep. Got a call frm KKH earlier saying my FTS risk is intermediate 1/888. I am 42 years old. Currently 13 wks pregnant. Will go for NIPT in 3 days. I told myself not to worry but I cant help it because thats all the info I was told. I dont know what to think abt the 1/888 risk 😔

hi Sabrina! thank you for your reassuring reply. i went to KKH this morning and was shown the FTS report. the result was all good and the only reason im 1/888 is due to my age. so i went ahead with NIPT and now just waiting for the result. Your message gave me hope. appreciate it!
