NUH Gynae Recommendations

Hi all, does anyone have any gynae recommendations in NUH? Also, feel free to share your experience if any. I.e at how may weeks did you decide to change to private route etc.

Baby gender at 14 weeks

Hi, at 14 weeks, will we be able to know the gender?

At 14 weeks it's still quite early, but some places can give you an indication if the baby is positioned well and your sonographer is experienced. My girl's gender was confirmed at 16 weeks, and even then the radiographer said positioning matters a lot. If you're keen to find out, you can ask at your next scan whether they can tell, but don't be too disappointed if they say to come back in a couple of weeks when it's clearer.

FTS risk intermediate 1/888

Hi Mummies, I cant sleep. Got a call frm KKH earlier saying my FTS risk is intermediate 1/888. I am 42 years old. Currently 13 wks pregnant. Will go for NIPT in 3 days. I told myself not to worry but I cant help it because thats all the info I was told. I dont know what to think abt the 1/888 risk 😔

hi Sabrina! thank you for your reassuring reply. i went to KKH this morning and was shown the FTS report. the result was all good and the only reason im 1/888 is due to my age. so i went ahead with NIPT and now just waiting for the result. Your message gave me hope. appreciate it!

Frequent farting

Helo mummies! Im in my 13 wks pregnant. For the past few weeks ive been farting alot and i dont feel any bloatedness..any mummy experienced this before? But it was a gd released of gas. No foul smell etc. 😊😊

Yes! I had this during my first trimester too 😅 My OB said it's quite common because pregnancy hormones slow down digestion, so you tend to pass more gas. As long as there's no severe pain, diarrhoea or bleeding, it's usually nothing to worry about. It got better for me after a while!

Which hospital?

Ive gave birth to my first child at sgh and it was great, but i am now considering if i should go KKH or SGH for my second child? Is kkh okays?

milk tea on first trimester?

hi, im on my first trimester week 9. may i ask if its okay to drink milk tea such as chagee ?

17:33 Haha this question very relatable because I also was craving milk tea so badly during my first trimester! The main concern is the caffeine content lah, during first trimester doctors usually advise to keep caffeine below 200mg per day, and milk tea like Chagee can have quite a bit of caffeine depending on which drink you order. So if you really cannot tahan the craving, maybe order once in a while only and choose lower caffeine options like the fruit teas or ask for less tea base, and avoid the full caffeine ones like dirty matcha or strong black tea based drinks, and of course check with your gynae if you are unsure!

May I know how much is standard gynae fee for private hospital? How much is acceptable?

17:14 Wah, private gynae fees in Singapore can be quite shiong on the wallet lah! Generally for each consultation it's around $100-$200+ per visit, and for delivery package at private hospital like Mount Elizabeth or Gleneagles can go up to $15,000-$30,000 depending on whether normal or C-sect. Medisave can help cover some of it but honestly I feel anything within $20,000-$25,000 for the whole pregnancy journey is still considered "acceptable" lah, though of course everyone's budget different one!

Anyone feeling the same, i don’t really have no appetite or sensitive of food smell. But I feel like I have a lot of phlegm that difficult to puke out, itchy throat and keep have feeling need to cough to clear the phlegm. wake up at night want to pee often and dehydrated so much, feel mouth very dry. Clearing throat occasionally can make me feel like wanna vomit also.

Yes same here. i have alot of phelgm and alot of wind. Keep me bloated. and sometimes gag.. N vomitted just lot of phlegm. I cough alot at night. but i am ok with day time. I call it myself "night sickness" rather than morning sickness. 😅 Good thing is that, I still can eat meals and taste drinks. I hope you also able to get proper meals and drinks. Juices and fruits help me in my appetite. Especially when I feel hungry and not in appetite. I wake up at night bcos in need of water or hunger. Sometimes at 3am, i make for myself smoothie to fulfill my hunger and thirst
