NUH gynae experience

Hello all! FTM here, I’m 29 weeks pregnant and looking to change to private route soon. However, i’m still conflicted on which gynae to choose. I’m contemplating between Prof Si Su Lin, Dr Anita and Dr Vanaja. Please share your experiences with any of the gynae above!

I haven't personally seen those three, but I know quite a few mums who've switched to private around the same gestation as you and they all say the key thing is finding someone who listens and doesn't rush you during appointments. Since you're already at 29 weeks, I'd suggest calling their clinics to ask about availability and how they handle third trimester care, because some gynaes have tighter schedules closer to delivery. You might also want to check if they deliver at the hospital you prefer and whether their fees fit your budget, since private can vary quite a bit. If you have friends at your polyclinic or from antenatal class, they might have direct experience with one of them that could help you decide.

anyone been under dr janice tung? is she TLC? and pro natural?

I haven't personally been under Dr Janice Tung, so I can't speak to her approach directly. Best way to find out if she's TLC or pro natural is to call her clinic and ask, or check her clinic website if she has one up. Many mums also ask during the first appointment itself, and most doctors are pretty straightforward about their philosophy. Hope you find someone whose style matches what you're looking for.

Low blood pressure

Entering my third trimester and I ended up in A&E because of low blood pressure 😭 They couldn’t really find a reason for it, but after 3 bags of IV fluids to boost my hydration, my BP went back up to borderline. Has anyone experienced this during pregnancy? Any tips or suggestions on how to safely raise my BP? 🥹

Oh that must have been scary, especially being so far along. I had something similar in my second trimester and it turned out I just wasn't drinking enough water and my iron levels were a bit low, so once I got on top of those things it settled down. Third trimester is when things can shift quite a bit, so I'd really suggest following up with your gynae or PD to check your iron, blood sugar and hydration levels properly, since the A&E doc didn't pinpoint a cause. In the meantime, small frequent meals, lots of water throughout the day, and avoiding sudden position changes (like getting up too fast) helped me feel less dizzy and faint. Fingers crossed it's something simple to manage for the rest of your pregnancy.

Pregnancy Symptoms

hi , my body have been very itchy recently what should I do ? after apply stretch cream or QV lotion it’s still doesn’t helps at all . I’m currently 26 weeks pregnant

At 26 weeks, itching can definitely get frustrating, especially when creams aren't doing much. A few things to consider: sometimes pregnancy itch is just hormonal and dehydration-related, so drinking more water and keeping your skin moisturised regularly throughout the day (not just once) can help. That said, if the itching is really intense or spreading, it's worth checking with your PD or obstetrician just to rule out anything like cholestasis, which needs proper attention. Congrats on baby number two! I'd suggest checking the main AsianParent Singapore community pinned messages or asking the mods here if they have a Jan 2027 birth club group, since most of the active ones seem to start through the platform itself. You could also post your own WhatsApp group link here and see who wants to join, I did that with my second and got a few genuinely helpful mums who became proper friends even after our kids grew up a bit.

Under Dr Shilla at TMC for a couple of weeks now. Curious how was anyone’s experience under Dr shilla? also does anyone know if she’s generous with HL before EDD?

I haven't been under Dr Shilla myself, but my friend was with her at TMC and found her really thorough during consultations and quite patient with questions. On the HL front, it really depends on your individual case and how your pregnancy is progressing, so best to ask her directly at your next visit what she'd recommend for you.

On the HL question, I think it really depends on your individual circumstances and how your pregnancy is progressing, so it's worth asking her directly at your next visit what she typically does, since every doctor has their own approach to when they're comfortable signing you off.

Kkh b2 vs sgh b2 experience

Hi mummies 💗 Anyone has recent 2025–2026 experience with KKH or SGH B2? I’m currently under KKH but still contemplating whether to stay or switch to SGH. My firstborn was delivered at SGH under A1, so this time round I’m not sure what to expect for subsidised/B2. Would love to know your birth experience, how the doctors/nurses were, the ward environment, and whether B2 has aircon 😂 For normal delivery, how many days did you usually stay before discharge? I’ve heard quite a few bad reviews about KKH lately 😭 so now I’m scared and really cannot decide hahaha. Please share your recent experiences!

I was KKH B2 for my second and honestly the experience really depends on which ward you get, so it's quite a lottery. My stay was smooth, nurses were helpful, and yes there's aircon in the B2 wards these days, though some rooms are a bit snug. For normal delivery I was discharged on day 2, which is pretty standard unless there are complications. That said, a few mums I know switched from KKH to SGH B2 and didn't see a massive difference in care quality, just different systems and waiting times. Since you're already under KKH and they have your medical history, I'd say unless you have a specific concern, switching midway through your pregnancy might add more hassle than it's worth. But if the reviews you're reading are from recent months and they're giving you real pause, it might be worth a consultation call to your current gynae to ask what to expect this time round.

Brazilian waxing reccomendations

hello! im thinking of trying out brazilian waxing and was wondering if there are any recommendations from the mummies 🫢

I'd recommend going to a salon where the therapist is experienced with brazilian waxes specifically lah, because the technique really matters and you want someone who knows how to minimize discomfort. My friend tried a few places around the east and central areas before finding one she was comfortable with, and she says it makes a big difference going somewhere that does a lot of them rather than a general salon. Just make sure to exfoliate a couple days before and avoid tight clothes after, otherwise the aftercare is pretty straightforward. Worth doing a patch test first if your skin is sensitive, just to be safe.
