First time to-be dad - How was your experience at KKH Private?

My wife has been under the care of Dr. Samantha Yeo since the beginning of her pregnancy, and we’ve opted for private care from day one. As we approach the delivery date, I’ve been reading various posts and comments, but I’m still a bit confused and would really appreciate some clarification on a few things: We are planning to go for an A1 ward, and all our consultations so far have been in the private setting. On the actual day of delivery, will my wife be assured of getting an A1 ward? Since Dr. Yeo has been seeing my wife throughout her pregnancy, we would like her to also be the one delivering the baby. As the due date approaches, is it possible to choose or schedule a date for normal delivery, or is it typically something that happens suddenly and unpredictably? Lastly, could anyone share their experience with the A1 ward—specifically, what the overall experience is like and how the service differs compared to B1 and below? Thanks so much in advance for your insights and advice! It means a lot to us as first-time parents navigating through all of this. #Needadvice #firsttimemom #AskingAsAMom #pregnancy

The most assurance you can get is asking your doctor directly whether she would be available to deliver your baby around the EDD. A relative of mine’s doctor changed last minute cos doctor went overseas for conference or something. So best just to check with your doctor that she will be around. A1 ward means private room, not sharing with anyone else. Can’t really compare the speed or hospitality of service because it is supposed to equal regardless of class

My experience with KKHprivate ward A1 was very good! Your wife will be attended to and will receive prompt assistance round the clock. My gynae has to travel during my EDD but assured me who will be doing the delivery for me. Don’t worry your wife will be in good hands at KKH private ward. I was so famished after the delivery and the meals they served was really delicious! FYI I was a above 35 yrs old high risk first time mum and opt for KKH

Thank you!

B1, husband can not stay overnight. B1 is 4 beds per room. if A1 full then they will give you B1. For A1 husband can stay overnight.

There should be some pre admission briefing on the delivery, ward etc in KKH. Did u check with the nurse or your gynae during the appt?

But u could always check in with the nurse/gynae for most accurate information that you need. I check in with my gynae and she refer me to the nurse when i have query on delivery etc when i was week20
