Need advice on first time pregnancy

Hello, My wife is 9 weeks pregnant. This is our first one after 3 years of trying. We are excited about it. I need advice on the do’s and don’t on this first trimester. Right now she’s taking multivitamins(includes folic acid) after lunch and prenatal milk(Anmum Materna) after dinner. Is there anymore supplements that she needs to take? During sleep, is it okay to lie on your stomach? Is there any preferred position? As this is our first baby, we are quite lost on what to do. Need some advice on this first trimester. #Needadvice #firsttimemom #firsttimedad

Congrats papa and mama! Its fine to lie on your stomach in the first trimester coz the fetus is still very small. As the pregnancy progresses, your wife will find tt she can't comfortably lie on her stomach anymore, and then it's time to find another position. 2nd trimester onwards, it's better to sleep on your side. Some will say left side is better, but I couldnt stand sleeping on my left and slept right throughout my pregnancy. Its fine. Can't sleep on the back though, coz when the baby gets big, he/she will press on a major vein/artery and your wife will feel very uncomfortable. For first trimester, multivitamins with folic acid tt your gynae prescribed will be sufficient. Do check in your gynae for any additional ones when 2nd trimester starts. Beyond tt, food wise, just avoid raw foods like sashimi and half boiled eggs, no alcohol, minimise junk/preserved foods (easier to say than do for this haha) No shark meat/fin, tuna (due to high mercury content) , minimize pineapples (may cause uterine contractions) , max 1 cup of coffee/tea a day. It's wonderful tt youre checking in on the dos and don't for your wife, that's very thoughtful of you. As the pregnancy progresses, she'll have a lot of aches and pains and will need a lot more rest. Do try to let her sit and rest where possible, carry her stuff etc. It really goes a very long way.

That’s a long advice! Thank you very much! Will let her rest more and prevent from doing/carry heavy stuff.

First of all, congrats!! First trimester can be verrryyyy hard because body is adapting to the changes inside, and may be on survival mode if the pregnancy symptoms are alot and overwhelming. Try to avoid things that upsets her or are causing alotof worry or stress. Let her eat what she wants because to me personally, i’m trying to figure out what works to relief the nausea or that weird after taste 24/7. Sometimes that food works for that day and then it doesn’t the next time. So it depends, and you just haveta be extra patient. What makes me happy and more motivated is that my awesome husband understands and just follow through. It really helps. But of course food that totally haveta avoid, best to avoid. Otherwise all eat in moderation. Best of luck new parents!!!!

Thank you!

Congrats and have a safe pregnancy! First trimester, try your best to pay more attention to her morning sickness etc. The changes can be tough, as soon as she wakes up give her something to munch on to avoid feeling sick and eat properly for all meals. Avoid greasy and too spicy food, but if she craves then carry on! Just not too often. First trimester she can still sleep as she wants cause baby is still small, 2nd onwards then start sleeping on side. Definitely avoid carrying heavy items or standing too long. She will tend to rest and sleep more, as she should. Happy mama = happy baby. Just be attentive to her needs and look out for any concerning symptoms. Any bleeding should go straight to doctor.

Thank you!

my advice is; 1. No sex during 1st trimester (1week-13week) bcs it will triggered the fetus. 2nd &3rd trimester are fine to do it. 2. dont let ur wife carry heavy things or do hard work. 3.it is fine to sleep on any positions during 1st trimester bcs the baby arent grow big enough yet. may change the positions to left side only if once enter to 2/3 trimester. 4. Dont consume any tablet medicine without doctor precriptions if shes sick. ask dr first before consume. 5.immediately go to clinic/hosp if there any bleeding on private part. bcs its not normal that what my main advice is. stay healthy and all the best.

usually hospitals will give 2 types of supplements (obimin & DHA fish oil) as of first & early second trimester it's ok to lie on your back or even stomach. once the belly/baby grows bigger (3rd trimester) it's best to lie on your side so that the baby could breathe easily. also if you're having heartburn, lie on the left side. right side if you're feeling breathless. prevent from laying on the back (3rd trimester)

Noted. Thank you!

If you go to the clinic, some drs may prescribe fish oil & calcium tablet. But as long as she is taking her vitamins should be ok. For lying down, its best to lie down on the left. But lying on back is generally safe too. But starting 3rd tri you must try to sleep on the left as much as possible. Dont worry too much, esp if your wife has no known complications.

Congrats!! 1st trimester will likely be trying with fatigue and nausea so be there for her! Nausea might be bad so fruits and raisin bread and plain biscuits are what I ate(less rejection to those food) but it will clear up in week 13! Rmb to drink more water too just maybe not at night as hydration helps with nausea too!
