Hi, my child is 2.5 years old. She has been drinking HIPP organic cow milk since she was a newborn. After turning 2, she started having hard stools. At home, she passes stool frequently, but only a small amount each time and needs to strain. Could it be that the milk is no longer suitable for her age? Should I explore goat milk or cow milk of other brand?
My son is 10months now. We have measure his weight and length. But according to doctor is normal, just growing abit slow. Can we consider change goat milk for him. Is goat milk can let him has more nutritious compare to cow milk?
If your baby is within the normal growth curve, is thriving, active and hitting all developmental milestones, there's nothing to worry about. There's no need to speed things up. Make sure he has consistent milk intake + complementary foods that are nutrient rich (wide variety of age appropriate fruits, veggies, wholegrains, proteins, dairy, legumes etc). In terms of growth, both cow and goat milk formulas show similar patterns. However, there may be differences between brands in terms of specific nutrients, processing etc. You can try samples from different brands before deciding whether to switch. Most importantly, choose a formula your child enjoys.
What’s the difference? Should I try goats milk when my baby starts solids? Or after? When’s the best time. Also my first kid I have cows milk after 1 YO. My second one is 6 months, what’s the recommended next milk?
Under 1 years old your baby should still be on either breast milk or infant formula (any one that is age-appropriate - goat or cow) as this is still their main source of nutrients on top of complementary foods. Comparing goats milk formula and cows milk formula, they are both great sources of nutrients for growing kids. In general, goats milk is slightly higher in calories, protein, fat and lower in carbohydrates. It is also slightly higher in potassium, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. They have different protein structures and smaller fat globules which are easier to digest. They also tend to have more natural oligosaccharides which act as prebiotic to promote gut health. There will be some differences between brands. Pick the one that suits your needs. You can try samples from different brands before deciding whether to switch. Most importantly, choose a formula your child enjoys.
My 1,5 yo boy falls sick quite often and doesn’t eat well. Could their milk be the issue??? Can goat milk boost immunity, or i'm afraid my boy has some kind of allergic to milk
If your child falls sick often and is not eating well, please check with your paediatrician. Milk may or may not be the issue. Goat milk is generally more hypoallergenic compared to cows milk. They also tend to contain more oligosaccharides that act as prebiotics to promote gut health and immune health. If you suspect your boy has a cow’s milk allergy, it’s important to first check with your paediatrician to understand the type of allergy he has. Goat milk proteins differ from cow’s milk proteins and generally have lower αS1-casein levels, but suitability can vary from child to child.
My child has eczema and multiple food sensitivities... Is goat milk usually recommended? Goat milk more “rich” is it? Scared baby cannot handle, but i'm thinking on trying
It’s important to first check with your paediatrician if your child has a cow’s milk allergy and to understand the type of allergy they have. Goat milk proteins differ from cow’s milk proteins and generally contain lower αS1-casein levels, but suitability can still vary from child to child. Please consult your paediatrician before making any changes to your child’s formula. As for being “more rich” — not really. In terms of growth, both cow and goat milk formulas show similar patterns.
My daughter is 4 years old this year and has been on Isomil formula as she’s allergic to cow’s milk. May I request a recommended brand for goat’s milk? Thanks
Goat’s milk should not be given to children diagnosed with a cow’s milk allergy, as it may cause cross-reactivity with cow’s milk proteins. Please consult your paediatrician before making any changes to your child’s formula.
idk if this is normal or not but my toddler (2 yo) gets frequent diarrhea, will goat milk be safe enough? bcs i think he still needs milk for nutrition
Check with your paediatrician to find out the cause of the diarrhoea as this is not normal. Switching milks may or may not be the solution.
Thanks for having this. Want to ask, first time mummie here. Baby poo suddenly become softer after changing milk, is it normal or sign not suitable?
Yes this could be normal as they adapt to different milk. However, keep an eye if it persists or baby shows signs of discomfort.
need help here... My 2-year-old is an extremely picky eater and mostly survives on snacks and milk. Is goat milk enough to support their growth?
At the toddler stage, milk is not sufficient to support growth as food should be the main source of nutrients. However, I totally understand picky eating. And goats milk can be used to complement their diet to support growth. My top 3 tips for picky eating (that I personally find super helpful!): involve them in the preparation process, repeated exposure (I know it’s tiring but KEEP OFFERING!) and be a role model (monkey see, monkey do!).
My LO now drinking Enfa formula milk, and all okay so far. If no major issue, is there any benefit to switch or better not anyhow change?
If there are no major issues and the current brand is able to support her needs, you can stick to the same.
