Baby can start learning as little as 4- 6 months. Depend on the school. Actually swimming pool water is not that harmful, a bit is ok, baby won't go drink the swimming pool water too. This is few school that swimming lessons for babies. http://www.littleswimschool.com/ http://www.swimminglessons.com.sg/infantaquatics.htm?gclid=CM6D7vy--c0CFdMSaAod2t0H-g http://www.waterfun.com.sg http://www.aquabambinos.com.sg/lesson-for-babies/ http://littlesplashes.com.sg/?gclid=CNrZgta_-c0CFQgjaAodPiUAWQ

When your baby is 6 months old, you can join a parent-child swimming class. You'll be in the water with your baby during these classes, which are opportunities for her to be around other babies and become comfortable in the water – not learn true swimming skills. Your child probably won't be developmentally ready for formal swim lessons until age 3 or 4, at least.

Babies can start as early as 3 months old. With a professional to guide, you need not worry. Allow and give yourself, your baby and the trainer a chance. Babies are smart they wont drink the water intentionally. Water is familiar to an infant. Infants lived in our tummy, its filled with water as well. Youll be surprised :)

A swim coach I know recommend 3 months. At this age, they still have the reflex like they are still in the mother's womb so it's automatic for them to adjust in the pool. I find this article useful: http://www.babycentre.co.uk/a539332/swimming-with-your-baby
