I give her Millet mixed with rice that is easy to cook for porridge. I don't know what it is called in English but in Chinese it is called 新米. This kind of rice is harvested this year and is good for cooking porridge. Some of the rice adults eat are harvested a few years back. You can buy this kind of rice from the market , they usually sell by weight not prepacked
