What if I sleep through labour?

You would be a goddess if you could sleep through labour! :) Labour is divided into 3 stages - early, active and transitional. If what you're talking about is early labour then it is definitely possible to sleep through it as labour can start from few weeks to several hours before active labour kicks in. In this stage only very mild contractions are felt (sometimes not at all). The other 2 stages of labour are much more intense as your body begins to work its way to welcome your little one. It was hell for me and I don't think you can sleep through that. http://www.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/labor-and-delivery/childbirth-stages/three-phases-of-labor.aspx

If you are in the early stages of labour, you might be able to nap a bit, but as labour progresses, the contractions get really painful so it's quite difficult to sleep through that.

2 hours of screaming after my waterbag broke, I decided on taking the epidural jab and managed to sleep till I was ready to go into labour.

thanks
