oil or lotion

Is it recommended to apply baby lotion for newborn daily? Also, if doing baby massage for the newborn, do you use oil or lotion? What would you recommend to use (brand and type)?

I used minyak telon, which is an oil meant for babies. I used it twice a day after his bathe, or as an when he needs a nice rub.
