Can't Afford To Attend Weddings

Random rant.. Anyone feeling guilty of consciously avoiding to attend weddings in Singapore just because of the high sum expected from ang paos?? Just feels silly and sad to me that we are looking for all affordable options for baby items like 2nd hand items for our 1st bub, but then going for 1 wedding already burns few hundreds from our pockets! Maybe only attend weddings of really really close friends and family... Then again, ppl talk and there's the guilt trip.. Sigh

I hear you ... But at e end of the day your relatives and close friends should understand that when you attend their wedding it is a sign of celebration and love , they should not treat it as some money making event.

Knowing that hotel weddings cost anywhere from $2000 and up, even double this per table, I don't have the heart to attend and gift anything lower than what our seats costs.. Thus in a way shortchanging the couple :(
