KKH or PRIVATE

Hi mummies, at what weeks should I be decisive of my chosen route, private or govt? Currently I’m on my 18th weeks and due for the anomaly scan and whooping cough. Wish to get the subsided rate at KKH but I would missed out on the anenatal package from private gynae(usually 10 session etc). Can’t make up my mind because KKH I heard has good doctor for neonatal care should things goes south but they are strict on hospitalisation leaves, shared rooms, and consultation can only be on weekdays which hubby has to take extra leaves. While private route would be easier, but I heard the emergency c section or NICU will cost a bomb. For your kind advice and thoughts please thank you!

hello. I'm still under subsidy. I did ask the nurse at KK on her thoughts should i apply for private when i just got to my 2nd trimester. she advise it's abit waste of money. if i think i wanna go private, opt for it from my 3rd trimester onwards at least i can save abit of money. My other concern was the extra cost for emergency c sect or NICU. Thankfully, my sister inform me of the insurance i could get to cover for this. Maybe u may want to hit her up to know more on this Fatin @ 98500895

Just want to share my opinion since it differs from the other comments, but do bear in mind we all have different circumstances and budgets — I chose to go private despite the higher costs as having the same doctor throughout and having them know my progress is important for me. I also want a single bedder so husband / family can stay during labour. My gynae has been amazing so that definitely helps affirm my decision

You can consider KKH private which is you will experience what private route like such as you will have specific dr for every check up. Also, even if you are under subsidy route doesnt mean it 100% shared room as you can still choose Ward A which does not have subsidies

I heard that even though you take private. when you giving birth, it might not be that doctor also. so public hospital is good enough I feel.
