Fake contractions?

Hi mummies! I’m currently 39+4 weeks and have a scheduled induction for the 21st due to my GDM. I’ve been feeling off and on pain since the morning at the bottom side of my stomach and now I can feel the pain in my back as well. I read that contractions are supposed to he 45-60 seconds and to time them 5-10 minutes later, but it seems like this pain just is consistent and goes away for a while but comes back with the same intensity. I can feel baby moving but the movements are slightly less active than normal at this timing. Please advise if I should head down to the hospital or if I should continue monitoring? #firsttimemom

Oh darling, try not to panic, but at 39 weeks with gestational diabetes and back pain, you really should not second-guess yourself, definitely call your labour ward or head straight in to get checked! I went through something super similar right before my induction was scheduled. I felt this dull, constant ache wrapping around my lower back and tummy that didn't quite fit the textbook contraction timing, and baby was having a quieter day than usual. I waited around for hours second-guessing every little cramp, and looking back, I wish I had just gone in sooner for peace of mind. Just to be safe, get your hospital bag and go get monitored. For what it is worth, my doctor was Dr Chris Ng, and he was always so reassuring whenever things felt a bit unpredictable towards the end. Sending you the biggest hug, trust your gut and go get checked out!

Hi mum, this one better not wait, please go to the hospital or call 995 now to check, especially since baby's movements are a bit less active than usual. Inconsistent pain plus reduced movement together is something the doctors need to see right away, even if it turns out to be nothing serious. Better safe than sorry at this stage. if the hospital has given u a number to the delivery suite , call them and ask for advice. they will be able to direct u accordingly.
