Tips on bloatedness & weight gain!

Hello mommies & mommies-to-be, I need advice on how to reduce bloatedness! I am at week 5 going on 6, and my stomach is HUGE as I’m super bloated. I have tried peppermint tea, drinking warm water when I wake up, but to not much avail. Also don’t wish to apply ointment as my older age makes this pregnancy much higher risk so prefer to be cautious. In addition, any tips on slowing down weight gain? I go for daily hour-long walks (as trying to refrain from spinning though I used to spin 3x a week) and eating fruits, cutting all sweet intakes. My first gynae appt is unfortunately only in 2 weeks so need advice to help me through till then! #firstmom #pregnancy #askmommies

Week 5-6 bloating is actually super common, mama... Hormones (especially progesterone) slow down digestion a lot, so many of us looked “more pregnant” from bloating than the actual baby at that stage. A few things that may help: Eat smaller meals more frequently instead of big meals Reduce gas-trigger foods for now (beans, cabbage, broccoli, fizzy drinks, super milky drinks) Walk after meals if possible, even 10-15 mins helps Stay hydrated + don’t hold in gas 😅 Some moms find cold drinks make bloating worse during early pregnancy For weight gain, honestly at this stage a lot of it may still be water retention and bloating, not actual fat gain yet. You’re already doing quite a lot with daily walks and cutting sweets. No need to be overly strict because baby still needs proper nutrition ❤️ If your pregnancy was already active before, many gynaes actually still allow moderate exercise early on unless you have bleeding, pain, or specific high-risk instructions. But safest is still to wait for your gynae review since you mentioned higher risk pregnancy. Hope the next 2 weeks pass smoothly for you 🤍
