Midwives are actually very professional and have assisted in many deliveries. When I was in the delivery suite, the midwives realised that my baby defecated in the womb and it was quite a serious situation. I had to deliver the baby as soon as possible, before she swallowed feces and got infected. The midwives were very encouraging and helped me deliver my girl safely. The gynae only came by at the very last moment to deliver the baby and stitch me up.

Of course it is best to have gynae to deliver for you in case there is any complications during labor, e.g. umbilical cord prevent baby from pushing out, baby in distressed e.g. dropped heartbeat or baby eating meconium before delivery. However, for my 2nd delivery my gynae didn't manage to reach delivery room on time as my labor was too fast. At that point in time, there were only a few mid-wives present to help my labor.

Actually midwives are way more professional then doctors. In singapore, midwives actually assist in most of the delivery UNTIL you are ready to push the baby out, the gynae is here to 'catch' the baby and probably stitch you up when required.

Yes it's perfectly safe. I feel that midwives are much more professional that gynaes.

Nurse po ang nagpaanak sakin back in 2015 sa lying in clinic. She's very good.
