I have been reading about the Zika Virus and the global warmings about delaying pregnancy. It is all very disturbing. I am already 32 weeks pregnant...What are the precautions that you are all taking?

I agree with Jamie. No point worrying for something that might/might not happen. Best is for you to be focus on being healthy and making sure your baby is "baking well" inside you. However, you can take some precautions to ease your mind as well. Aside from avoiding the countries that have confirmed cases of the zika virus, you can start wearing long, covered clothing to protect yourself from mosquito bites. Apply insect-repellent, and sleeping under mosquito nets or in rooms with wire-mesh screens to keep out mosquitoes. If you get sick, please go to your doctor immediately to get medical advise. https://www.moh.gov.sg/content/moh_web/home/pressRoom/pressRoomItemRelease/2016/precautionary-measures-against-zika-virus-infection-.html

• Stay in places with air conditioning or that use window and door screens to keep mosquitoes outside. • Remove sources of standing water, which can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. • Remember that mosquitoes that spread Zika virus may be more likely to bite during daytime hours. • Apply insect repellents and reapply as directed. Check with your doctor about what kinds of repellents are safe to use in pregnancy. • Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants and tuck your pants into your socks when outdoors. • Wear light-colored clothing, since mosquitos are thought to be more attracted to darker colors. • Avoid the use of scented skin care products. • Sleep under a mosquito net.

What will be, will be. They have yet to find a treatment or cure. The best thing you can do for now is to NOT worry unnecessarily and take precautions to prevent getting bitten. - Use an insect repellent or apply lemon eucalyptus oil. - Wear long sleeved clothing and long pants - Use a mosquito net when sleeping. http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/page/avoid-bug-bites http://www.cdc.gov/zika/pregnancy/question-answers.html

Don't travel to areas with an outbreak. Use mosquito repellant - The ones with Deet are apparently the strongest defense but not really good for pregnant ladies. I am personally using Badgers - it's organic, suitable for kids and also lightweight

For me, I try to avoid going out at night and if I go out, I will wear long pant and long jacket. Also, I apply mosquito repellent each time when I go out. At home, I try not to open window in bedroom at night and switch on electric mosquito repellent.

I'm also on my 32nd week. I bought 2 mosquito nets. Yung isa tent-like for bedtime, yung isa naman curtain. Tapos bumili rin ako mosquito repellent, yung isinasaksak lang sa outlet. And i mostly stay indoors especially pag madilim na 😊

I avoid going out unless necessary. Seldom open the windows, only in the mornings to ventate the house. And once more in the early evening. Also apply mosquito repellent.
