Our helper, who's been serving my husband's family for years and now takes care of our son, has just been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Is it our responsibility to cover her treatment and medical expenses? I don't agree with my husband that it is.

Your husband is a good man. If I were him I won't have married you because our moral values are incompatible. Your might be able to terminate her work permit and send her home and you won't be responsible. As a Singaporean and compassionate person... I would first check if I can afford the treatment in sg.. If I can't.. I would send her home but give her a sum of money that will cover her treatment back home.

I sure don't know if it's your responsibility. However you have said it she has been with your husband's family for a few years and even taken care of your son. I would definitely pay for it whether it not it is my responsibility.
